I am contemplating purchase of WT1201CW Top Load Washer w/ Front control design and waveforce technology.. I have a very limited space in which to fit the unit. How much clearance is required for hoses, etc, behind the washer? in other words, how close to the wall can it get?

Select the "Speed Wash" cycle if you want to use it like an old-fashioned low-capacity, high-water-level machine.

The time saving from using it as a high-efficiency machine comes in total laundry time, not in per-load time. This washer allows you to load huge amounts of laundry and have it spin dry enough to take less drying time. Use the delay wash feature to plan when you want to move it to the dryer.

Question

What is the distance from the back of the washer to the back edge of the lid?

I have a shallow cabinet that overhangs the washer/dryer space in my kitchen. My current washer's lid when fully open sits only a couple of inches in front of this cabinet. I'm concerned that the lid on the WT1201CV(W) washer might sit farther back than the washer I currently have.

I haven't been able to find this model on display to measure.

6-1/4" from center back to center back of lid, where the top is the deepest. Lid is 17" tall in center when open, 14-1/2" tall with the ventilation panel flipped down and the lid open (taller on sides, but less than 17").

I have this washer and the height (with the top up) was a concern to me because I have cabinets above it. It is a taller washer. I stand about 38" from bottom to top (not counting the display panel at back of product. the back distance from back of washer to back edge of lid is about 6-7 inches and the lid itself is about 19 1/2 inches tall. I cannot fully open mine because of the cabinets above so I have improvised and use a very small bungy cord with S hooks that latches to cabinet door and hole/opening at bottom of washer lid front. Hope this helps!

Question

Is a longer drain hose available, or what extension is recommended?

I recently purchased a WT1201C and am running the drain hose to a wash basin. The wash basin is not far, but is about 2 feet further than the hose that was supplied with the washer will reach.

Are there any special specifications for the drain hose, and what is the recommended approach to increasing the distance (longer single hose vs extension, etc.)?

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. Not all loads will have water flowing from the top of the wash tub. Some are designed to fill from the bottom. This is normal. If the unit is still washing the fabrics, then the unit is operating normally. If you have additional questions about this matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Question

Frequent Uneven (UE and Ue) Load Errors

For some reason, a vast majority of my laundry loads either encounter a hard stop with a UE error, or take a very long time to finish due to the rinse and spin cycle encountering the Ue error.

It really doesn't matter if the load is clothes, sheets or towels. It happens more often than not.

The size of the load doesn't seem to have an affect either. I've tried varying the size of the load to make this stop.

Any suggestions?

Is it possible to wash a down comforter in this machine?

I've tried it in a conventional agitator top-loader, and since it's down feathers, it always floats to the top of the washer and only half of it really touches the water/is cleaned. Will I have the same issues with this washer?

We regret your dissatisfaction with the operations of this washing machine. If you do not like the condition in which the washer leaves the clothing, you may choose to reduce the spin speed. Check the water lines on the unit. HOT water is known to set wrinkles. As this washer uses a COLD cycle rinse, if the lines are reversed, then it will be difficult to remove such wrinkles.

Are you putting too many items in the washer? It can certainly hold a lot but I think in the book it mentions a recommended weight limit if you choose the bulky/bedding cycle. I have a huge king sized comforter that fills the whole tub but it definitely gets washed really well. I think the weight limit might have been 8 pounds.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. If the weight of the fabric is insufficient to take it beneath the water level, either the water level is insufficient, caused by too much content, or perhaps a different cycle should be used, such as the BULKY/BEDDING cycle. If this does not resolve the matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Although LG says NO, due to unbalancing issues, I have had luck using the following procedure for similar items. Select BULKY/BEDDING that provides the most water in tub. Select your preferences for all other options EXCEPT select NO SPIN. When machine stops remove all items and shake off excess water. I place an old bath towel on the floor to catch any water drippings. I place all items back in washer, including the floor towel, balancing all sides based on wet weight. Select SPIN ONLY. Dry items as clothing label states. You will be pleased with results.

Fabric softener is dispensed during the final rinse. This washer is designed to save rinse water by using the JET SPRAY Rinse System (SMARTRINSE) in the COTTON/NORMAL and HEAVY DUTY cycles. Pressing the FABRIC SOFTENER button redirects the flow of water from the JET SPRAY Rinse to the Fabric Softener dispenser. This information can be found on page 26 of the owner’s manual. That which has been described is normal operation.

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. There are two portions of the original packing materials that were recommended to be kept in case the unit needed to be moved. The first was the base of the carton, which had the segment to restrain the bottom of the tub. The other portion was the Styrofoam insert that was found in the top of the tub. This was shaped to prevent the tub from moving during transport. Unfortunately, we do not have any replacements available for these.

Question

Do you have to wash things twice?

We've had our new LG washer and dryer for a couple of months and our family's athletic clothing (soccer and running clothes) are still coming out of the wash with that funky BO smell... lately I've had to wash clothes twice which doesn't seem right. My previous 15 yr old washer never had this problem.

I'm using mostly the cotton/normal cycle, but wondering if there's a better cycle I should be using? It's all performance material, like Nike Dry-Fit, so certain cycles aren't recommended for the fabric.
