We appreciate your interest in this television. The LG53 is not a valid model number, and as such, we cannot determine if that is a Smart TV. However, if the selected 39LN5300 is the intended model, then No; it is not a Smart TV. This model does not have a Network LAN port, nor any other means to connect to the Smart TV content. . In order to obtain Smart TV capabilities, along with Netflix, without having to obtain an entirely new TV or player, it is recommended to obtain the Smart TV Upgrader, model SP520 which will allow the Smart TV features which are available through the LG Apps Store. Information about this device can be viewed on our website at http://www.lg.com/us/blu-ray-player....

The TV is 35.1 in. wide x 23.1 in. high x 9.2 in. deep with the stand; 21.1 in. high x 3.1 in. deep without.

A Web search should turn up brick-and-mortar and on-line retailers offering this TV. (I don't think LG allows specific names to be used here.)

My local independent LG TV-and-appliance retailer was not familiar with this TV when I spoke with them -- they were still clearing out 2012s -- but the famous big-box retailer down the street from them already had this TV in stock at that time.

LG does not seem to have too much information on this TV on their Web site. However, there are technical details on this TV in the owner's manual for the 32LN5300 or 42LN5300, either of which you can download from the LG Web site. Apparently the same manual applies to all LN5300 TVs.

It does not appear that this TV is sold outside the U.S., so it is unlikely that it will work in India. However, LG Customer Service either in the U.S. or India should be able to tell you if there is a comparable TV in the Indian product lineup.

LG doesn't specify in anything I've seen. On one popular TV Web forum, the consensus is that it is a VA panel, at least at the 39" size. Other LM5300 screen sizes may be different; there also is some discussion about a panel lottery between IPS and VA screens, but most people seem to think it's VA.

Question

Unable to view HD channels on model 39LN5300

When the TV is attached to the cable(no cable box) and the setup scan is performed, none of the HD channels are recognized. This TV was purchased as a 'cable ready TV' meaning that all tuning is performed by the TV and no cable box is required. Other TVs in the house are similarly attached to the cable and they do receive the HD channels. My cable company does not supply cable boxes.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television. Try entering a channel number directly on the remote control, rather than scrolling through to a Digital Channel. These channel numbers will likely be found between the current stations, such as Channel 42-1 or Channel 17-3 (these channel numbers are just made up as an example). If this does not resolve the matter, then please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for further troubleshooting.

I apologize, but no; this television is not designed to accept a PowerPoint file using the USB port. The only way this might be possible would be to connect the computer to the RGB/VGA port, or to the HDMI port. In this way, the TV will act as a computer monitor, and anything played on the computer will then be displayed on the screen.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television. The best connections would depend upon what connections are available on the different devices. The BluRay player will typically also play DVD discs, so the addition of the DVD player may not be necessary, which would reduce you to two devices. From that point, you might check to see if the Cable Box and BluRay player can both, or either, connect using one of the HDMI ports. If you have additional questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

This question is difficult to answer because it seems that this model uses both VA and IPS screens. I tracked down using a panel make site that in the 39 inch section this TV might be using a MVA Panel that has a contrast ratio of up to 3000:1. The IPS of course would be about half that. You can tell which screen panel you have by looking at the shape of the pixel dots. Arrow shaped for IPS and rectangular for VA panels.

Sadly there is no easy option to hook up headphones to this model. What you could do is buy RCA to 3.5 jack at Walmart and plug your headphones into it while plugging the other end into whatever audio out your cable box or equipment is using. You could even buy a mini amplifier which would give you superior sound quality.
