Question

Why won't the stove top & burners stay clean?

I've used different cleaners and nothing keeps the top and burners clean. Always streaky and a greasy looking. I don't fry foods so that's not the cause. Boiling water can cause this, too. Sometimes If I use a paper towel after cleaning I can get some of the grease and streaks out. But that's rare. And the burners are a problem, too. They burn up and have marks. What is your solution to this. I'm disappointed for the money the stove cost. I clean my stove after every use, so there's no build up. Thank you

Hint for cleaning black appliances is to use degreaser dish detergent to wash black surfaces and dry. Use paper towel and spray window cleaner or dip in a little vinegar on paper towel and do a final wipedown. for a squeaky clean finish. Works like a charm. If you use fabric softener on your dishtowels, it will streak the black surface

I have the same problem and this is reason that I did not give the stove five stars for quality. I too am disappointed that the burners stain so easily. Nothing I have tried to use to clean them works either. Hopefully someone reading this has a suggestion.

We regret your displeasure with the maintenance requirements of this dual-oven range. Once the cooktop has cooled, wash any oil / grease spills and splatters with warm water and a mild soap. Rinse the surface, dry it, and then buff/polish it with a dry cloth. If a stainless polish is needed, be certain to always wipe in the direction of the metal surface finish, as wiping across the grain will leave a cloudy/streaky appearance.

I found my serial number for this model on the back left side (looking at front) down near the floor. I had to pull the whole oven out to find it.

It was closer to the floor than the control panel.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dual gas range. The Model/Serial label should be located on the back of the oven, near the top, behind the controls. The oven would likely have to slide away from the wall in order to access this label. The only other location for this label would be just inside the door frame on the lower oven, on the left hand side.

Question

Can the oval burner flame be adjusted?

I've tried making pancakes on the griddle and the oval burner in the center of the stove just does not get hot enough. No matter how long I allow it to preheat, it takes too long to cook the pancakes and they end up like rubber. The flame is just not high enough to produce the necessary heat. I love everything else about this stove, but the griddle usage is disappointing to me.

Check out the parts list and part diagram at Sears website for this range. You will find a parts diagram for all of the burners with numbers that correspond to the parts list. You will find that the nozzle (sometimes called orifice) for the center burner is rated at 8,000 btu/hr. This nozzle is too small for this application. You need a nozzle rated at 12,000 btu/hr. This nozzle is used on the left front burner of the range. Sears will sell you another 12,000 btu/hr nozzle for about $6 and about $8 shipping. Ideal griddle temperature for pancakes is 375 f. The 8,000 btu/hr nozzle will deliver about 285 f. even after 5 minutes. The 12,000 btu/hr will deliver about 400 f after 3 minutes. You will have to reduce the heat to about "5" on the dial to get ideal pancake temperature.
The nozzle is 10 mm hex. You can replace it without removing the upper burner pan. You will need a 10 mm. socket.. Loosen the existing nozzle and then remove it carefully with plastic tubing that just fits over the nozzle. Don't drop it. Use a very little teflon paste on the threads of the 12,000 btu/hr nozzle. Get it started with the plastic tubing and then tighten it with the 10 mm. socket.
Even with the bigger nozzle the center burner is quite safe. The service tech. that replaced mine (I bought the nozzle, he put it in) saw no problem with warranty or otherwise. The flame in the center burner is in fact shorter than the flame of the left front burner (both the same 12,000 btu/hr). The left front burner is smaller and is round not oval. The flame does not extend beyond the griddle. If you want to call for service, LG's service department treated me very well. You will need to get a 12,000 btu/hr. nozzle yourself.
Be careful with the parts diagram and part numbers. You want the nozzle that comes installed in the left front burner. I tried the left rear nozzle (9,100 btu/hr) but that one was too small and did not get much hotter than the original 8,000 btu/hr one. The appliance store that took care of the warranty service sent the tech. out with just another 8,000 btu/hr nozzle, but that did not do anything. It needs 12,000 btu/hr. to heat properly.

Question

Igniter Burners

I recently bought the LDG3036ST and noticed that whenever I operated the igniter on one of the burners the middle burner (griddle) was also firing. I had never seen this behavior on another range with electronic ignition. At first I thought my range was defective. After researching this in the manual I found that it was normal for other igniters to fire when operating one. So my question is what's the purpose of this feature and the rationale behind this design? Does this happen with all LG ranges or is this now some sort of a safety requirement for all new gas ranges?

Not only the middle burner was firing, they all were firing.
The purpose of this feature is simplicity. There is one common igniter circuit for all of the burners. There is one high voltage unit to supply all igniters. Any other design would require either a separate high voltage unit for each burner (5 total) or some means of switching the high voltage to just the burner being turned on. Separate igniter circuits for each burner would mean more parts and more points of potential failure for no good purpose.

Yes, it is normal for all of the surface burner igniters to fire when any of the knobs are turned to the LITE position. This can ensure that none of the other burners are releasing gas or fumes unobstructed. All of our gas cooktops are designed in such a manner.

I apologize, but no; The UPPER or LOWER TIMER ON/OFF services as an extra timer in the kitchen that will sound when the set time has ended. It does not start or stop cooking. However, the UPPER and LOWER TIMED COOK option feature allows you to set the oven to cook for a specific length of time. The oven will continue to cook for the set amount of time and then turn off automatically when the cooking time has elapsed.

Yes, in case of a power failure, you can light the gas surface burners on your range with a match. Surface burners in use when an electrical power failure occurs will continue to operate normally.

In case of power failure, do not use the oven.
The oven and broiler can not be used during a power outage. If the oven is in use when a power failure occurs, the oven burner shuts off and cannot be re-lit until power is restored. Once power is restored, you will need to reset the oven (or broil function).

Question

What is required to have this range flush against the wall?

I have heard some complaints that the LGD3036ST range is difficult to position against the wall. I have a gallery kitchen, and the range must be flush against the wall. Is it true that there is no cut-out for the gas connection in the back of the range? My connection is through the floor, about 2" from the wall. Does this mean I will have a 2" gap from the wall to the back of the range?.

You should install your gas supply line between 3 1/2 to 11 inches from the left hand side of the stove (looking at it from the front) and no taller than about 12 inches. The same for the electrical outlet. You can go another4 inches to the right if the supply line is no taller than 7 inches from the floor. You can buy a recessed outlet (clock hanger outlet) if your electric outlet is out of this zone. Our range is flush against the wall. Just stay within the cut out dimensions and you will be fine.

We appreciate your interest in this range and its installation. According to the installation specifications for this product, the recommended area for a “Through-the-Floor” connection for a pipe stub and shut-off valve should be within 2” from the wall, and between 3” and 17 5/16” from the left-hand side of the installation location. The installation package should be provided with an installation bracket that attaches to the floor and back wall. This is to properly position the range and prevent tipping. This should also have the range flush with the wall. If you have additional questions in this matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Yes, a conversion kit ships with the range. It is in a bag fastened to the back panel of the range. Be sure that this kit consisting of the nozzles for both the cooktop burners and the ovens is installed before using this range on LP gas. LP gas has more heat per cubic foot of gas and operating a range equipped for natural gas on LP gas is unsafe. There are instructions for changing the nozzles in the installation manual. Factory warranty service may do this change over.

Convection conversion is 25 degrees fahrenheit. Convection conversion refers to the fact that food cooked in a non-convection oven requires 25 degrees more temperature to cook the same as a convection oven.
Thus, if a recipe calls for 375 f. oven temperature, the convection oven will do the same cooking at 350 f.
This range as shipped has convection conversion programmed. Thus is you choose "convection bake" and enter 375 f. as the temperature, the oven will heat to 350 automatically. You can turn this off if you want, per instructions in the user manual.
If you choose "bake" and enter 375 f. the oven will heat to 375 f. and the fan will not come on.
The baking time for the "convection bake" setting and the "bake" setting will be the same.

Question

why doesn't the top half of the oven cook as well as the bottom?

I just got this stove and I am using the ovens for the first time. So baked chicken and potato's, I figure let me use the top oven because it's such a small pan it should be fine. 45 minutes into the cook time the chicken is still very raw and not very hot. Did I do something wrong? Push bake on upper oven, went to the right and punched in 350, then to bottom right and hit start. Got the little song and 45 minutes later, raw chicken. I am now going to try sticking it into the bottom oven on same temp, wish me luck or we aren't eating tonight! Please help, so I don't go through this again. Product LG3036 double oven.

Does the back of the range have indentation to accept the gas pipe and hookup?

I read one review that stated the range did not slide back to wall because of the gas hose hookup. There was no indentation in the back of the range to accept the hose. As a result, the stove was not flush with the counter.

More accurately, the range will not fit against the wall if the gas line is in the wrong place! There is a rectangular opening in the back of the range. It is not large. It is very low to the floor and toward the left side of the range as you are facing it. It is just to the right side of the left wall of the range as you face it. I don't know the dimensions, but if your gas line is in the right place, the range will fit against the wall. My gas line was in the right place left to right, but was too high on the wall. I had to add a 90 degree fitting then a 12" gas pipe then another "street 90" to the gas valve. There is an additional rectangular opening low to the floor to accommodate a "U" run of gas tubing to come back to the gas inlet fitting. My range fits flush with the wall.
The review you read is just a tale of poor planning. If you see the range in a store, bring a tape measure and your cell phone camera. Photograph and measure the openings and make sure the gas line is in the right place relative to the range location.

I don't think the answers are in the installation guide. As you can imagine, space is at a premium with two ovens. The area for the gas connection is low to the floor on the left side as you face the range. Your best bet is to take a look at a display in Best Buy or elsewhere of this range and take pictures. I had to lower my existing gas line by 12" to get it low enough to fit into the recess in the back of the range and then add an additional 90 degree fitting to point toward the center of the range. The flex gas line makes "U" to come back to the fitting on the range. There is a fairly small rectangular opening low on the left side of the back (while facing the range) and a longer narrow rectangular opening big enough for the flex gas line to fit so that range will fit against the wall. Your gas line is going to have to be low and just inside of the left side wall of the range. You will have to get this right or your range is not going to fit where you intend.

We appreciate your interest in the design of this double-oven range. The griddle on this unit is fashioned from cast iron. It has also been designed with a silvery, non-stick layer.

Press and hold the CLOCK key for 3 seconds. Press the #1 key 2 times to ensure the unit is set to a 12 hour clock. Press the START key to store the setting. Press the CLOCK key again, one time, without holding it down, this time. Press the number keys for the time desired. Press the START key to store your setting again. This should allow the clock to be set manually.

Question

What is the rack size of the LDG3036ST?

We are considering buying the LDG3036ST double oven. My question is regarding the top oven and what the dimensions of the oven rack are? Would cookie sheet (17"L x 12"W) fit on the rack. Eye balling it , it does not look like it would fit.

Also, how large a roasting pan would fit in the bottom oven and how large a turkey?

Thanks

There's more than enough room for a 17" x 12" cookie sheet in the top oven.

22 by 14 inches usable space, make sure to raise the rack to the middle position in the upper oven, so you don't burn the bottom of the cookies. The 17 by 12 cookie sheet will fit perfectly. and the bottom oven will hold any turkey that you are likely to find. We have had a 22 pound turkey in it.

LG LDG3036ST comes with a griddle. It is aluminum and is teflon coated. As manufactured the center burner will produce 8,000 btu/hr. This is enough to heat the griddle to only about 285 f. Ideal temperature for pancakes is 375 f. Be prepared to replace the nozzle in the center burner with a nozzle rated at 12,000 btu/hr if the griddle is important to you. See other answers and review of this range for detail.
