You can open it to the right or switch it and open it to the left...depending which side your washer is on to make it easier to transfer clothes. It doesn't not fold down..just left or right.

I purchased this dryer 6 weeks ago and I also tried to open it by pulling it down the first couple of times. It is a little deceiving but mine does open to the right and if you want to you can reverse it to open to the left. It really is a great dryer!

Yes, it does open to the side... and reversible means that you can change the hinges - so if needed, the door can open to the other side :)

alternative venting / DLE1101W manual

I need to see installation diagrams for dryer DLE1101W, especially for side and bottom alternatives for vent. There is no information on your website and the manual and instructions are not listed in the "manuals" section. I would also like to know recommended clearances for space between washer + dryer. I used a periscope style vent from the dryer's center bottom outlet to my house vent line off to the end of the dryer. It required about 2.5 inches of space to the rear of the dryer. Air flow is very good with this arrangement.

On the washer side of the dryer I have a half inch of clearance between them - no problems.

I have very little space between washer and dryer. They seem very solid and don't move at all when in operation, It appears that there is an area for a side vent, but I use the back vent. Do not see anything for a bottom vent.

The Sales Representative was correct. We do not recommend the use of dryer sheets in our washing machines as the fibers being pulled off the sheets can form a layer on the moisture sensors and not allow proper operation of the unit. If fabric softener is needed, we recommend using a liquid fabric softener in the appropriate compartment in the LG washing machine.

I have had this happen also...and I just took it out again and then put it back and the filter light went out. Someone told me that if you use fabric sheets in your dryer....you should wash the filter with soap and water once a month...because the softener in the sheets gets built up on the filter.I make sure it's dry before putting back in dryer.

If the dryer is not getting things dry on a sensor cycle, try setting the level of dryness to "more" or "very dry". Sometimes the load is too small for the sensor. You can use time dry or manual dry in that case. I also sometimes use time dry to get things like mattress pads dry or to get a load to my desired level of dryness.

Yes, the manual explains proper wiring for a 3-wire cord. BUT, most codes require a 4-wire cord, which adds the ground wire, rather than using the neutral as the ground. In some areas the 3-wire cord still meets code - check with your local building codes.

Question

Why's my dryer not heating?

I was using the dryer like any other day. I threw a load in before I dropped my wife off for work, might have been out for a little over an hour. Dry cycle stated it had about 2 mins left until finished, decided to take clothes out & realized they were as damp as when I placed them in there this morning. In fact the inside of the dryer was still cold, like it had never ran. Tested a few other cycles & still no heat. Checked the temperature sensors inside of dryer, cleaned exhaust system & still nothing. I've had the dryer for a little over a year & never any problems before today. Any ideas as to what may be going on?

You can run the installation test to help find the problem. Remove everything from your dryer. Press and hold the TEMP Control button and OPTION button, and then press the power button. The display should read "InS". Press the start button and allow the test to run. It should return an error code that you can then look up on a web search or in your manual if you have it.

Had the same squeaking noise issue on a new LG dryer I purchased from Home Depot on 1/3/15. Technician came over 1/30/15 and it turned out to be the plastic bushings which hold the rear rollers on. Any time they turned slightly it would emit a high pitched squeal. The tech re oiled everything, especially under the plastic bushing and the squeaking has stopped. He said this was the first issue of bushing squeaking he's seen. Maybe LG has recently changed the materials in the plastic bushings.
