Movies Stop for several seconds

When watching a movie, there are several times when the movie stops for several seconds before continuing. It has happened with almost every movie. I think the unit must be defective, or is there an upgrade that will fix this?

Bought (2) units, one ea for two HDTVs. One always worked perfectly; the other experienced your symptoms, and with usage got progressively worse. BDs, DVDs, new, old didn't matter. One day I accidentally jostled the tv and affected the playback. Replaced the HDMI cable; Haven't had ANY trouble since!

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this BluRay player. In order to determine the potential cause of this freezing of the videos, it would first be necessary to know the source of the videos, whether they are from discs or if they are coming from a network connection. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to troubleshoot this matter.

Question

Upconversion for PAL (576i) DVD's to HDMI/1080p

Many players will convert PAL/576i to NTSC/480i before upconverting to 1080p.

Obviously the first step of PAL->NTSC loses quality/resolution.

Does this player convert directly from PAL/576i -> 1080p/60HZ directly? Or does it lose quality by converting to NTSC first?

Thanks

It plays fine, there is no quality loss that I can see and I'm fairly picky. I don't believe it's converting anything. It can just play both.

Upconversion to 1080p is actually doing something, but it's for better quality, not worse. This part never comes out worse as far as I can tell. Obviously a bluray is better. Also try setting the bluray to 480 and letting your TV do the upscaling to see which is better. Might have more luck with one or the other doing the job. Setting it to 1080 will cause the TV to NOT do the work. It's a matter of which scaler is better.

I'm using the BP325W right now and have tested multiple pal discs. Not sure what the original answer meant. This plays everything just like the BD670 I have (also LG). There is no re-encoding/transcoding on the fly happening here. It's really misleading in the manual/specs list. The player can play both and does so with ease. To be honest, I prefer the pal...LOL. It's higher res. I'm in usa but seek pal discs when I can...ROFL. My 2c.

We appreciate your interest in this product. Those players released in the United States are designed for NTSC-based signals only. According to our website specifications, this model can provide NTSC->PAL conversion, but does not offer any PAL playback.

This player doe snot come with Hulu+. you will never find it in the 'My apps' section as that is reserved for LG apps. Premium apps can only be found in the premium sections, and as long as your country setting is US and you have updated your player, what you have is what you have. this is one of the reasons why this player was cheaper than others. it only has a limited selection of premium content providers.

you cant.

you could have purchased one of the more expensive units such as the BP220, 320, 520 or 620 and you would have gotten the full compliment of premium apps.

that is one of the reasons why this player was so inexpensive.

How do I get the player to display the movies using the entire TV screen.

I have an LG 55 in 1080p LED tv and with this bluray player playing a 16:9 movie I get the black bars across the top and bottom. How do I get to change the display to 4:3 or whatever the format is to use the entire screen.

Note that 19:6 (which is a 1.77:1 ratio) is not the ONLY widescreen format. Some movies are have an even wider screen format with 1.85:1 ratio or even 2.35:1 ratio...these will leave you with black bars at the top and bottom of even a widescreen HD TV. This is normal. If you want to get rid of these black bars, you need to zoom in and therefore lose some of the left and right sides of the picture and usually this is fine as you don't notice missing anything trimmed from the far left and right of the picture anyway.

To do this zooming you have to change the picture format on your HD TV. My HD TV has 4 or 5 different modes I can cycle through using my TV remote control.

you need to change the aspect ratio of the player or the TV...

home -> settings -> display/picture -> aspect ratio -> change it to what ever looks good for you...

more than likely you are playing a 'Widescreen' version of the movie, and if thats the case, what you are seeing is normal.

the website shows you what the 'general' list of premium apps are, not what this player specifically has.

it does not have Pandora and probably will not. you cant download it or update it.

This doesn't browse the net. It has net access to get to netflix/vudu etc. But does not ACT as a browser so to speak. For that you need a tablet/phone/PC/laptop etc. This player has internet access for the apps and updates, that's it. No browsing.

They don't advertise it can do this though, so no loss. Sorry.

Question

CD recording option doesn't work

The manual for the 325W says it can record CDs to mp3 format onto a USB drive. I followed the instructions - inserted an audio cd, made sure a thumb drive with blank space was inserted, then pressed the MENU button to get to the recording option. But when I press the MENU buttons, nothing happens! No menu screen appears at all.

Yes I am aware of which menu button is supposed to be pressed. It does not work. While a CD is playing I'm supposed to press the info/menu button to find the option for CD recording, but when I press this button nothing happens. No menu appears at all. Of course I tried all the menu buttons but none of them display anything when pressed. Has anyone verified that this feature works on their player?

It is asking for your WiFi password. This can be found on a sticker on your modem/router (unless you have changed it). It is case specific so if it is "spinning" (not finding password) make sure you are using the right upper/lower case. If you are, make sure you have enough bars (strength indicator) to connect.

Before setting the wireless network, you need to connect the broadband internet to the wireless home network. Next, set the access point or wireless router. Note the SSID and security code of the network. For the wireless network connection, the player needs to be set up for network communication. This adjustment can be done from the [Setup] menu. Adjust the [NETWORK] setting as follows. Setting up the access point or the wireless router is required before connecting the player to the network. 1. Select the [Connection Setting] option in the [Setup] menu then press ENTER. 2. Read the preparations for the network settings and then press ENTER while [Start] is highlighted. If wired network is not connected to the unit, all available networks are displayed on the screen. 3. Use w/s to select a desired SSID of wireless network and press ENTER. If you have security on your access point, you need to input the security code as necessary. 4. Use the directional arrows, on the remote control, to select the IP mode between [Dynamic] and [Static]. Normally, select [Dynamic] to allocate an IP address automatically. If there is no DHCP server on the network and you want to set the IP address manually, select [Static] then set [IP Address], [Subnet Mask], [Gateway] and [DNS Server] using the directional arrows and numerical buttons. If you make a mistake while entering a number, press CLEAR to clear the highlighted part. 5. Select [Next] and press ENTER to apply network settings. Network connection status is displayed on the screen. 6. Select [Close] and press ENTER to complete the network connection. If you have additional questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

not to mention even if it did, you would not be able to download hulu+....

ANY of the premium apps, can not be downloaded to ANY player. only LG apps, but premium apps are different. basically what your player comes with is what it gets.

the Digital Coaxial Audio out connection is for AUDIO ONLY.

the only way to send video out of this player is using HDMI.

you will notice that the digital coax connection on the back is neither yellow, red, or white in color, so.... it is in no way a composite connection, thus it will not give you a picture.
