Customer questions and answers for LG Electronics 47LS4500

Question

Why is there no option for Trumotion

I bought this tv specifically for the 120 Hz TruMotion, and i am sorely disappointing by the lack of options pertaining to this feature. I have read many questions all answered by the same person, a staff member at that, and all of his answers are, almost literally, the same. I read one article which had the timeline for a live chat call, and the tech stated that is was enable permanently on the low setting. We should have the ability to choose what setting we want it on. Obviously you have many customers that feel the same way about this topic, and I hope that this problem will be taken care of soon.

That is correct; the same answer has been provided each time, because the information given initially was correct, and has not changed. Our customers’ requests, for an adjustment to the TruMotion feature, has been forwarded to our factory and design staff for consideration. At this time, we still do not have any new information available for when or if a new update is to be released to provide any options.

Question

You say that TruMotion is always on...

But it looks just like my 60hz tv? If I'm paying for 120hz, it should look like a 120hz tv. There is a clear difference between the two when viewed on other LG sets and other TV manufacturers. You can tell when a set is 60hz, 120hz, 240hz....not on this set. Is this TV really 120hz and, like all the other comments/complaints, why is there no adjustment?

The TV picture looks great for a 60hz panel.

I agree, from my experience this set is laggy and blurry and feels exactly like my 60hz LCD from 5 years ago. That was the reason to upgrade was for the crisp clear picture for gaming and sports, unfortunately there is no option or settings for TruMotion even though they say "it is always on" when clearly (or unclearly) it looks like it is not compared to other TruMotion TVs.

Question

Highly disappointed regarding trumotion..

I, like so many other people here, am very disappointed in LG for misleading us about the specifications of the TruMotion technology. Why would the setting be factory-enabled to "Low" and not allow the consumer to change the setting? That was a mistake, and I believe with the numerous comments here regarding this feature someone from LG should be able to assist all of us who purchased this TV under the guise of having a 120HZ television. I would like a response from an LG staff member who can tell us what the possible solutions are to this problem. (Firmware update??)
It seems like we may have just purchased a fairly expensive 60Hz television rather than a reasonably priced 120Hz television.. Which is highly disconcerting. Please fix this LG.

Like you and many others who purchased this television, I am very disappointed by the 120hz claim. As the old adage succinctly says: "People lie." I suppose it also applies to multinational conglomerate corporation. However, instead of admitting it, they elect to double down with more lies--insisting that the tv is "factory enable to low" and cannot be changed. My conclusion is that the 120hz is set so low, it's gone down to 60hz.

We regret your displeasure in the design of this television. The TruMotion feature has nothing at all to do with the refresh rate of the display panel. Whether the unit has TruMotion set to High, Low, Medium or Off, the panel will still provide a 120 Hz refresh rate. The TruMotion feature is simply in place to allow processing to the signal to smooth frame transitions. We have no indication that any updates will be developed to add adjustment options to this feature.

Question

Why is there no option for TruMotion?

This screen is laggy and blurry compared to other LG 120hz televisions with comparable specs. I want to be able to adjust the setting of TruMotion as it seems like it is not on, or on an extremely low setting which is causing my sports and games to blur. What is going on?

We appreciate your interest in this television and its features. Many product models will have the TruMotion feature automatically active, with no menu options for further adjustment. The LS4500 series is likely one of these models that does not have the option to modify the settings. This is normal operation.

I apologize, but no; at this time, we have no indication that firmware updates will add access to this feature. Installing software that is not intended for this particular model can potentially harm the unit or disrupt the operations of the product. The correction of such improper software installations will not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Question

TruMotion - There is no setting for this.

There are no options currently to adjust any aspect of TruMotion for this device. Yet other devices that have TruMotion do have a setting available. Will this be fixed soon, or is there another reason why it doesn't seem to be working properly. I have been looking everywhere for this answer. I love this TV, but I mainly got it because I was impressed with how this feature worked. Again, all other models have an option to adjust this, yet this one does not currently.

Unfortunately, we can find no information regarding the EYE MOTION CARE feature. We would be happy to further research this, if we might be provided with the location of where this option was found.

Question

What are the black levels? and does this include a menu option for true motion?

I've looked and looked and i can't find specs on what the black levels are and I've noticed that other tvs with truemotion have a setting to turn it off and on. I ask this because the video still looks very blurry when the screen is panning or theres lots of movement.

Question

47LS4500 can't get surround to pass through from HDMI

When I connect an HDMI source (BluRay, DVD, etc.) to the TV the optical output is only sending stereo signals instead of passing the surround signal through. My experience with other TV's has been they pass the surround signal through to the optical output. Note that surround sound from cable TV works fine through the optical output.

Question

Hi, I'm happy with my tv however I was wondering if there is an option to turn on and off the 120hz feature?

I've noticed that Samsung TV's with 120hz are able to shut it on and off and display a smoother picture than the lg. Is the 120hz feature actually always turned on with the lg?
