Question

How may we purchase the drying rack for this LG machine, DLE4870W?

I wasn't too confused until reading this (the three entries regarding drying rack order information. Please start anew and remove all other or line out the text. Be clear. I, for one, have little tolerance for incorrect or ambiguous information. Cut out the on one hand and then the other. I don't need a "should" but a confirmed IS. You should know, it's your machine, etc. I should think the retailer for the dryer would offer. #Can't believe Lowes where dryer was purchased doesn't carry; also can believe LG doesn't provide rack with purchase. So... #

If the rack doesn't come with the dryer but can be ordered, please tell us the appropriate source and order information.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dryer. While it does not seem that this power failure would be caused by an over load of laundry, there does appear to be a failure in the power switch, control board, or some related component. The unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

Is there any way I can get the signal to sound at the end of a cycle when using the wrinke care option

My end of cycle signal is turned on and works when I am not using the wrinkle care feature. However regardless of which cycle I select if I use the wrinkle care feature I do not get a signal when the preset cycle initially completes. I would think that the normal cycle end signal (melody) would sound and then the wrinkle care restart would continue. I don't want to have to wait 3 hours until I hear my dryer signal.

Question

How do I convert this dryer to operate on natural gas?

I am trying to convert this dryer from electric to natural gas. Everyone I talk to (LG, department stores, etc) keeps directing me to the LP conversion kit, but that is for converting from liquid propane to natural gas. What is the accessory and part # for ordering a conversion kit to convert from ELECTRIC TO NATURAL GAS?

We appreciate your interest in this electric dryer. The selection of the heat level is performed by the TEMP. CONTROL button. To protect your garments, not every dryness level, temperature or option is available with every cycle. Check the CYCLE GUIDE on page 30 of the owner’s manual for details.

Question

Is there a difference in quality with different retail stores?

We are looking to replace our 14 yr old washer and dryer set. We did some looking and seen the same model at our local Menards and Karls. They were listed as the same model number but there was a difference in the agitator. The set at Karls was less gappy to the drum then the one at Menards. You could slide a penny into the seam of the gap..

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dryer. If the unit blows only cold air, and the electronic component does not suggest any electrical problem, then the unit may be experiencing a mechanical problem, such as with the heating element itself. Instructions are in the manual on page 15. If you do not have a manual, you can download from web site. The instructions say the door is heavy; it is not, but it is useful to have a second person help with removal and reinstallation. Takes only a few minutes. I uploaded the instructions but do not know if you can read them.

1. Open the door and remove the two plastic hole caps on the catch side by gently prying up with a flat blade screwdriver. Save these for step 6. 2. While supporting the door, remove the 4 screws, two from each hinge. Set the door aside face down on a protected surface to prevent damage to the door or the work surface. 3. With the door on a protected surface, remove the 12 screws on each side of the door and lift off the inner door frame using a flat blade screwdriver. Remove the latch hook and blank and move them to the opposite side. 4. Remove the 4 screws securing the hinges to the door frame. Remove the two plastic cover caps. Reinstall the hinges and cover caps on the opposite sides from which they were removed. 5. With the hinges and cover caps in the new locations, remount the inner door frame onto the outer door frame with the screws removed in step 3 above. 6. Reinstall the door with the screws from step 1 and 2. 7. Test the swing of the door to make sure the hinges and latch are properly aligned and that the door closes and latches correctly. This information can be found on page 15 of the owner's manual.

According to page 11 of the Owner’s Manual, the FLOW SENSE duct blockage sensing system detects and alerts you to blockages in the ductwork that reduces exhaust flow from the dryer. This improves operating efficiency and helps minimize service calls, saving your money.

Question

Sensor Dry Not Getting Clothes Completly Dry

I use the sensor dry function of my dryer and even on "very dry", the dryer seems to stop short of getting clothes completely dry. For example a shirt will be dry except for the collar or jeans dry except for the waist or cuff. I have tried hotter temperatures and very dry setting, but still cannot seem to figure it out, other than using timed dry. Is this normal or could the sensor not be sensitive enough to moisture?

I had the same problem. Called LG and they ran some tests by phone and said it was an install issue and to call the company I purchased it from. They came out and said the install was fine and that the machine was probably faulty, so they replaced it with another one. This happened within the first week of owning it. The new one works great. You may want to start by calling LG and if not, call the store you bought it from. That's what warranties are for!

We regret your dissatisfaction with the operation of this electric dryer. The SENSOR DRY modes are designed to leave a small amount moisture in the clothing to help with the care of the fabrics. If you wish the clothing to be more dry, you may try the TIMED DRY rather than the SENSOR DRY.

Wrinkle Care and Signal

My dryer doesn't signal the end of the regular cycle if I use the Wrinkle Care setting. Is this normal? I was expecting it would let me know when the cycle was done and then the Wrinkle Care would keep it tossing until I could get the clothes out.
