Question

Loud Knocking Noise

When I start my dryer-it makes a loud knocking noise-for approximately 30-40 seconds...the stops and the dryer itself is fairly quiet. Is anyone else experiencing this issue with their dryer?

Mine makes a bit of a noise when it first starts, but it's nothing that worries me because, as you said, it stops after less than a minute. I just assumed it was the load getting going, overcoming inertia, and once it gets spinning good, it quiets down.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced. This almost sounds like a roller wheel may be causing this noise. Such cannot actually be determined without inspection by a certified technician. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

Where is the ventalation for the dryer located on the back of the dryer?

I just bought this washer and dryer. I am having to wait for delivery because the place I bought them from can't get the stacking kit till later this month. I am just trying to have everything I need to install the devices when they arrive. I need to know how much of the drying vent hose to purchase based on where the opening is on the dryer.

Thanks for your help!

The vent comes off the bottom center of the dryer. I only needed about 18 inches of vent hose.

We appreciate your interest in this product. The center of the exhaust duct is located 3 5/8” from the base of the dryer cabinet, and 14 1/4" from the right hand side, when looking at the back of the dryer.

I believe the "W" is the exterior color finish of the device. Ours is white and cost $100 less than the stainless steel one we looked at in the store. Seems to work just fine and my wife and I decided the color did not make a difference to us in the laundry room.

We appreciate your interest in this electric dryer. It is recommended to check the label on the materials you intend to dry. Once it is determined how to properly care for the garment, including the manufacturer’s recommendations for drying, compare the information with the chart on page 33 of the owner’s manual.

Question

Venting directly out the bottom?

The specs indicate this dryer can be vented directly out the bottom. Is this ready to go or are there modifications that must be made and can I do them? Rep for LG confirmed venting and no kit needed but forgot to ask this.

An adapter kit, part number 383EEL9001L, may be purchased from your LG retailer. This kit contains the necessary duct components to change the dryer vent location:
http://www.lg.com/us/support/parts-accessories

OptIon 2: bottom ventIng
1. Remove the rear exhaust duct retaining screw. Pull out the exhaust duct.
2. Press the adapter duct onto the blower housing and secure to the base of the dryer as shown.
3. Insert the 4 inches (10.2 cm) elbow through the rear opening and press it onto the adapter duct. Be sure that the male end of the elbow faces down through hole in the bottom of the dryer. Secure in place with duct tape.
Attach the cover plate to the back of the dryer with included screw.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dryer. According to the information shown in the owner’s manual, for this dryer, it does not appear that the screen is an actual touch-screen. The buttons around the edges of the screen will change and activate the options.

Question

Does the dryer tub turn in both directions?

Our current dryer tub only turns in one direction - which means if I put a load of jeans or sheets in to dry, they come out as a giant knot.

My mom has a different brand which I noticed turns both counterclockwise, and then clockwise, which keeps laundry from coming out in a knot. It also keeps wrinkles at bay.

Does this unit's tub turn in both directions, or just one?

This is for the DLEX8000W 9 cu ft dryer.

Thanks.
