Yes, we only got 2 pairs with the tv and bought 4 more. They work just fine with it. We got them at Fry's Electronics. I am sure you can find them online.

Question

Are the 3D glasses for 47CM565 active shutter or passive?

Some website display it as an active shutter versus what appears to be the popular passive ones you get at the movie theater. What's the difference?

answer 1
The LG is strictly a passive shutter-the same type of glasses that are used in the theaters. The active shutter types actually turn off or black out one eye at a time back and forth to match the picture on the screen at that time. This back-and-forth on the TV is fast enough to give a smooth (to the eye) picture that gives the 3D effect. The passive TV gives alternately differently polarized pictures that pass through the differently polarized glasses lenses that the mind then combines into a smoothly moving picture (persistence of vision.)

This television has been designed as a Cinema3D television. Our Cinema3D TVs utilize the Passive 3D glasses. The 47CM565 will not be compatible with Active Shutter Glasses.

Just an update. So yesterday getting it from the store and noticed that upon first turning it on there were large vertical lines in the middle and then they would clear and the LG logo screen would come on (do other people get the logo screen? on turning the TV on?)

Today the lines are now horizontal and only a few right at the top edge. They look like scan lines. Once again these stay on and the the logo screen comes on and all is good.

I also noticed that several times the picture lags or locks up for a second. Could that be a problem also?

Anyone else experience this? I just may have a defective TV.

RGB IN (PC) and you can connect 3-D blue ray via HDMI also. On the back of the set there is an audio in jack for RCA cable. Example: PC RGB cord from computer to the TV and that would give you video, The RCA cable from audio out of the computer, typically a headphone jack pin to RCA cable that would go to the audio in jack of the TV.

Question

Does the Digital Optical Output Support Dolby Digital?

I wanted to hook up the TV to a sound bar using the Digital optical out. The sound bar is not recognizing the signal as Dolby Digital (surround sound) but it does when I send it from the Cable Box. Is there a setting to get the TV to send DD or does the connection only support stereo?

When using the OPTICAL Digital Audio Output connection, the audio signal is a PASS-THROUGH, meaning that it will send the audio signal of most formats, as it is presented from the source. Dolby Digital is compatible, but DTS will not be compatible. Check your formats to see what is being received by the TV, and check the compatibilities of the system. If you have additional questions about this situation, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Firmware Update

I see that this television has a wired ethernet output. Does this mean that it has the ability to receive firmware updates? If so, will the television prompt me to enter my router password when I direct-connect the router to the television? Or, do I need to disable the router password to have the television connect to the router? Thanks!!

If you connect the TV to your router using a cable, the TV will not ask for the password and you do not need to do anything to the password on the router. If you connect wireless, the TV will ask for the password. Again, you do not need to change or remove the password on your router.

We appreciate your interest in this television. This model has been designed with a native resolution of 1080p. The letter “R” is not in any resolution designation on any of our televisions. A display of 720p means that the TV is RECEIVING a 720p signal. The TV will take this signal and convert it to fill the 1080p screen.
