The LS4600 television series is a new product line. As such, this unit was likely manufactured either in late 2011 or early 2012. We would only be able to tell for certain with the serial number of the unit in question.

Question

TV goes into powersaving mode???

To whom it may concern,
I just recently bought an 55LS4600, awesome product BTW!, but recently when viewing it, it goes black with the LG logo after about an hour. TV goes back to normal after I change channels or press any other button or do any other remote control option. I've tried the options but to no avail, how can I remove this option? BTW, it is connected to a cable box, service provided by time warner cable.

I have the same tv (purchased 4 days ago) and mine did that as well. I believe there is a setting where it says Energy Saving. You can click on that and change it to auto, maximum, minimum, some other ones, and off. I selected off, and it has not done it since.

Hope that helps!

Question

55LS4600 Wifi question

I bought this TV online from Sears. It stated in the details that it had Wifi connectivity and had Skype streaming content.
What exactly does this mean? Also, what will I be able to do online with the Wifi feature? Will I be able to use Pandora or anything like that?

I apologize, but it appears that Sears has provided incorrect information. This television is not compatible with Skype, nor does it have Wi-Fi connectivity. The Skype possibility would require that the TV be a Smart TV. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

We appreciate your interest in this television and its connections. The COMPOSITE (yellow/red/white) cables will actually have to use the COMPONENT (red/blue/green/red/white) jacks. Your WHITE cable will plug into the WHITE port, and the RED cable will plug into the RED port that is separate from all the others. The YELLOW video cable will plug into the GREEN port. Finally, press the INPUT button until the TV is set to the VIDEO option, rather than the COMPONENT setting.

Question

Is the 120hz technology in this tv doing black frame insertion?

The old 60hz LCD TV's had trouble with fast moving video appearing blurry because each image was scanned over the previous one. Old 120hz technology attempted to solve this by adding interpolated frames in between the real frames to effectively increase the frame rate of the original material. This smoothed the blurry movement but made movies look like they were shot with a video camera. The better solution is the insertion of black frames that "clear" the retina like film shuttering, and prevent retinal "smearing". Last years 240hz tv's from LG added black frame insertion, but this can also be done with 120hz technically. Does this set (and the other 2012 models) simply add black frames for 120hz?

Question

"self-calibration" feature

There is a "self-calibration" feature listed on the product page but I can't find any information about how to access it, nor does my menu look like the picture.

Is this feature actually included in this TV?

Here is the excerpt from the product page at
(http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-55LS4600-led-tv)

Find the Perfect Picture

Get easy self-calibration with on-screen reference points for key picture quality elements such as black level, color, tint, sharpness and backlight levels. Take the guesswork out of picture adjustments with this simple-to-use feature. It’s not actually magic, but it will sure seem that way.

I believe it haves the same technology, but the picture on the 4600 model seemed better at the store, but the picture setting could've been adjusted by the salesman for all I know. I chose the 4600 model because it came with more connection options, such as a PC input, more HDMI inputs and etc...I have my laptop, blu ray player, internet/cable and sound bar connected with additional connections still available. I Hope this helps out
