Question

Normal Operation of Fridge

I just purchased a LG french door fridge model LFX28968ST. This my first french door fridge and I had a question regarding the normal operation. It has almost been 24 hours since the fridge was installed. Does everyone else experience a fan than turns off when the fridge doors are open and turns back on when the doors are closed. Is this normal? Does this stop after some time or is this normally how the fridge runs?

I have had this fridge since February and I have the same thing happening. The fans shuts off when you open the fridge. I think it is an energy saver type feature so you aren't running the fridge if the doors are open.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator. It is recommended to check for any air leaks around the freezer door or around the dispenser. It is also recommended to check to see if the clumping might be from water over-spray in the ice maker. The unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

Bar between the 2 fridge doors & Compressor

I am prepared to buy a LFX28968 however I have been told that there exists a condensation problem with the center strip of the doors which leaks down to the freezer door unless the middle strip is heated. Is this a problem with your refridge and if not why is it not?

I do not use the heated strip and have not had any issues with condenstation on any part of the fridge. It has been winter since I have had it (three months now) and I keep my house between 60 and 65 typically, but I do live in CO, which is quite dry. Perhaps that is why I do not need to use it. It may be something that occurs in higher temperatures or in more humid climates. I will repost during the summer months if I have any need to turn it on or have that problem. Thus far, I would highly recommend this fridge.

Question

What side in back generates more heat, due to compressor air flow?

I'm taking delivery of a LFX28968ST next week, and my installation space is tight, but acceptable for air. However, I can open a vent in the space back wall. Wondering if I should put the opening more to the left, right, and if a better height above the floor. Just looking to provide added venting in back to keep area as cool as possible. So....want vent more near where the most heat gets generated.

These newer units are very efficient and built for tight areas. I would worry about more vent space if your unit was older. Mine is in a tight space as well but works great and does not seem to run any differently because of it.
