If the refrigerator is stainless steel than the answer is no magnets won't work. If you have an ice maker installed on the left door, the metal it has on it will allow some strong magnets to be applied.

Yes, but magnets may scratch the surface. I'd be careful with using heavy magnets on the front. The sides are also magnetic and will not scratch easily.

Question

Fan Noise

High I just bought this fridge I love it, but there is noise that is on constantly I dunno if it is the compressor or just a fan , which actually stops when you open the door, I understand that's a good feature for energy saving to stop it when the door is open, but my question is , does this fan/compressor run 24/7? because I'm sure the fridge is pretty cold right now, it's way past 24 hrs, I live alone so no kids and door is closed most of the time, thanks.

I have had this refrigerator for 1 month and the constant humming is making me crazy. My kitchen is open to the living room and I have to keep the TV volume louder just to cover the hum from that darn thing. I am still within the return policy period at Home Depot and am researching what model to exchange it for. Certainly with regret because I do love everything else about this refrigerator. And sadly all the other French door style refrigerators sold by Home Depot seem to have some negative reviews about the noise, so I don't know yet what to do. I may be forced to give up the French door style to find a guaranteed quieter model. I am frustrated to find myself in this situation after making what I thought was a well researched decision, believing what I read prior to my purchase about how quiet the LG brand was.

We appreciate your interest in this refrigerator. The compressor does NOT stay on constantly. It is normal for a fan to be circulating the cold air, and then to stop operating when the door is open. If the unit is having trouble with its operations, then please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 that we might assist with resolving the matter.

Question

Normal Operation of Fridge

I just purchased a LG french door fridge model LFX28968ST. This my first french door fridge and I had a question regarding the normal operation. It has almost been 24 hours since the fridge was installed. Does everyone else experience a fan than turns off when the fridge doors are open and turns back on when the doors are closed. Is this normal? Does this stop after some time or is this normally how the fridge runs?

I have had this fridge since February and I have the same thing happening. The fans shuts off when you open the fridge. I think it is an energy saver type feature so you aren't running the fridge if the doors are open.

I wondered why the water wasn't very cold coming out of the dispenser too. They say there is a holding tank for water that cools it before dispensing. It must be about 8 oz.'s big because more than that, the water is luke warm. I couldn't find any spec's on the size of the holding tank.

To compensate, we use a few cubes of ice when getting water from the dispenser. Not perfect but it's a work around we quickly got used to.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator. It is recommended to check for any air leaks around the freezer door or around the dispenser. It is also recommended to check to see if the clumping might be from water over-spray in the ice maker. The unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

check your floor. Is it stable? If you have a floating floor on concrete it is an easy fix. Just remove the back 8 inches of floating floor and padding and place a piece of tile down, it provides a stable platform for the compressor and everything else. worked for me.
