As far as we have been able to tell, the washing machine door can not be switched to the other side. The dryer door can be switched to the other side, though.

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. The washer door hinges on the left-hand side of the door. The washer door cannot change the direction in which it opens. The dryer, however, can have its door switched if necessary.

Pause Feature?

Is it possible to pause the cycle after it has started in case you need to add something? For example, if you realize you dropped a sock on the floor AFTER you already started the cycle. Can you pause it, open the door, add the sock, and then resume the cycle?

Yes, you can pause the cycle by pushing the start button. You'll have a few minutes to open the unit (once the red light stops blinking), close it and then push the start button again.

Absolutely! You just push the same button to start the cycle, to stop it. You will hear the door unlock, open the door, add your garment and push the start button again to resume. Water does not go everywhere either.

Do your front load washers have separate water connections for hot and cold water?

We are interested in this washer, but I cannot see from the specs if they accommodate separate connections/water lines for hot vs cold water. This is an important feature for us.

answer 1
Load Sensing is the little rotations the washer goes through before it fills with water. It "senses" how much water will be needed for the wash before it begins.

As for the "cooling" cycle; I believe it does apply to every setting on the dryer.

answer 2
The portion of the cycle listed as LOAD SENSING is simply when the washer is testing the weight of the clothing and making sure it is properly balanced. The COOLING message on the dryer is the cool down at the end of the cycle.

Question

Why do clothes always come out hot? Does it always steam?

No matter what the cycle we choose, the clothes always come out warm. For example, I will select Cotton/Normal. I ensure that the steam option is not selected, I change the temperature to cold. After the wash I remove my clothes and they are warm to the touch. It also steams on the delicate cycle even after I ensure that I have not selected the steam option. Is it normal for the washer to do this, I can't find any answers on this anywhere!

Question

Is it normal for thumping sound to occur?

Just got the washer and dryer combo.

The problem occurs only when there are clothes and only when it's spinning up and spinning down. Once it reaches a certain speed, it's almost quiet but at a certain RPM (on the low side), the thumping occurs and sounds as if something is hitting the side of the machine.

I found the problem! The shipping bolts are actually meant to be removed completely (the screw, the black plastic and the entire white plastic cylinder). The installer left the plastic parts in there and that's what's causing the thumping.

I think LG should probably add a large diagram there showing what should be removed from it rather than just highlighting the part to remove.

Question

pulsing the water pipes when filling with water

When the washer machine is filling with water, it does not just fill up in one cycle, it turns the water on in pulses, which is causing the water pipes in the basement to pulse as well. It is causing back pressure in the hot water line and causing water to spit out the pressure relief valve.

Is this pulsing of the water normal?

The washing machine is designed to measure the weight and content of the washer tub and adjust the water levels accordingly. The addition of water is not uncommon. If you are experiencing a water hammer effect in your pipes, there is a way to resolve that. Try the following steps to attempt resolution to the situation. Shut off the main water valve to the home. Turn on all the faucets, opening the lowest one last (this is usually the faucet on the outside, for a garden hose). Once the lines are empty, turn off all the faucets. Turn on the main water valve. Turn on the faucets again, one at a time, from the lowest to the highest.

I have heard that front loaders that do not have this feature do not work well with tankless water heaters as the water temperature will not get hot enough with short bursts of hot water from a tankless heater.
