Question

Shipping bolt hole plugs

I just purchased a WM3470HWA washing machine and the installers removed the shipping bolts, but did not install or leave the hole plugs. Leaving the holes open seems like it would allow dirt and debris to get into the washing machine mechanical parts. Can you send me some plugs?

I've actually never heard of having a light inside a WASHER. In my lifetime, I've had 5 different washing machines and none of them had a light. They were top of the line washers. I did have a dryer once that didn't have a light in it, and I always wished I had noticed that before I bought it.

I am curious, have any of you out there had washing machines that had lights in them?

Yes HE detergent is recommended. I use All Free & Clear. Costco also has an HE. I'm pretty sure most of the detergent manufacturers are make HE. Just look at the packaging for the HE symbol.

answer 2
Yes it is recomended to use the HE detergent. I think it is your choice on brand as long as it is HE. HE detergents can be used in ALL washing machines. The reason it is necessary is that since front loading machines use far less water, you don't want the detergent to re-deposit soil and such back onto the clothes during the wash cycle. the specially formulated HE detergent prevents this from happening allowing the clothes to come out clean. I hope this helps.

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. This model is not designed with a specific time to be able to add additional garments. You may attempt to PAUSE the cycle, and add items when the door unlocks. The wash will have to readjust itself, and may have to add water and time to the cycle.

I also wanted a right side hinged door, but was told by the Home Depot appliance associate that only left side hinged doors are available & they are not reversible. Our laundry room was set up for a right hinged door & since the washer was left hinged, we had to reverse it's placement. The water hose was long enough, but just barely!

Yes they are stackable. I am fairly short (5'3"), so stacking could make reaching and seeing the dryer controls a little difficult. Also, if you want to use the steam feature on the dryer filling the water tray and getting it in place without spills could be tricky.Based on my measurements, the middle of the dryer control panel would be 76" from the floor not taking into account the gap between the washer and dryer when stacking.

Question

Fill lines for detergent LG washer 3470

The detergent cup has a plastic tab hanging down into the detergent cup with the words normal and Max. Above the word normal is a line and above the word Max is a line. Does that mean that if you filled the cup for a Normal load, the word normal would by covered by the detergent? Likewise, is the a Max fill filled to the line ABOVE the word Max?

Fill the cup all the way up TO the 'Normal' or 'Max' fill-line. Since each fill-line is ABOVE each word that would mean that yes, the words would be covered by the detergent in order to reach it's respective fill-line.

Question

How much HE detergent should I use per load?

We just bought the 3470 model washer. The salesman at the store said to only use 2 tablespoons per load, 3 tablespoons if it is badly soiled load. I was shocked at this. I usually use the top line of the cap that comes on the detergent bottle. Can you please clear this up for me and advise me what the right amount is to use. Thank you

If you are using liquid detergent the cup in the detergent drawer has a 'normal' marker. Fill to the bottom of that marker and you're fine. You should be using HE detergent. My experience is that the marker for that is about half a capful.

Washer not filing up with water properly?

I just recently bought this product after years of using an old traditional washer and dryer set and I am just wondering if the irregularly timed spurts of what I believe to be moisture is normal for these new washers or if there is a problem with my water hose connection. I would very much appreciate an answer.

Many who've never used front-loaders don't understand their principles of operation. There may be a video or other tutorial available online at LG which may be helpful. Front loaders are more efficient because they use less water and detergent. What you are seeing in your machine is normal. It is the machine adding water in the very least amounts and at the optimal points in the cycle to get you the best results.

Additionally, be sure you use the prescribed amount of only HE-rated detergent. It is not recommended to use regular old-fashioned detergent like you used in your top-loader, because that stuff produces too many suds and defeats the cleaning principles of front-loaders. This is the one big fact that front-load newbies have trouble getting around. If you must use up some old detergent that isn't HE-rated, cut WAY down on the amount you are used to using! Then go buy HE next time.

Liquid Softener & Detergent?

Yes, add both the detergent and the softener at the same time, at the beginning of the cycle. Make sure that either both are liquid or both are powder. Using one of each will cause problems with the machine.

Are you sure you are using the correct amount and that it is HE detergent? Many people unfamiliar with front loaders don't seem to understand the principles of operation. You cannot use regular detergent unless you use a VERY minimal amount. Oversudsing is the bane of front-loaders. Use only the prescribed amount of low-sudsing HE-rated detergent.

Question

We're rebuilding our laundry and have ordered the washer/dryer WM3470HWA/DLGX3471W, our electrician wants to know where the power cords are located?

The area is being rewired, so he is looking to put an outlet about waist height to feed both stacked washer/gas dryer, but wants to be sure this is feasible, or whether because of the location/length of the cords there will need to be a high/low set of outlets here.

How much detergent depends on the load size, soil level of clothing, and even how soft the water is. Depending on these factors, amounts can vary from the amount recommended on the container of HE detergent, to as little as 2 tablespoons. Start with the recommended amount. If suds are seen, reduce the amount on the next load.

I'm looking at my user manual and you have; Extra High, High, Medium, Low and No Spin, so plenty of choices. I haven't seen a reference to RPMs. First thing, I threw my Cal King comforter in it and it did a great job. No light in the washer. If you're anything like me after you get it, you will be spending too much time in front of the glass door with a flashlight watching your clothes get wet and tossed around.

There are two types of Cold choices: Cold and Tap Cold.
I don't select Tap Cold. I do use liquid HE detergent but add Oxyclean powder to the inside of the drum before adding my clothes, and this seems to dissolve in the wash cycle and do its thing. My opinion is that this is not an issue.
