Yes, you can wash rugs in your LG front loader, I do all the time. This last time I had an error code for the first time. I thought it was out of balance but the water was not draining out. When LG tells you to clean the filter and drain the water hose at the bottom, there's a reason for that.

I usually wash like fabric's and the same type of backing and they do very well. I will wash 3 to 5 smaller ones at a time with no problem but this last time I threw 2 older rugs in that the backing was coming off.

The water did not drain for 2 cycles so I took them out, threw them over the fence and finished them up. Later that evening I opened the filter instead of unstopping the hose because it's quicker cleaning and the washer is out on back porch. The white rubber backing flakes came gushing out and more water than ever before, needless to say my next few loads had rubber specks throughout the clothes.

I put the washer through a tub clean and all was well!

Moral of the story- always clean that filter and hose even more often that is recommended. The moldy smell seems to dissipate and you'll be able to keep track of any dirty water buildup.

Yes, at least I do. I have washed small kitchen rugs (2' x 3') and I've also washed our larger entry way rug (maybe 4' x 6'). Both have turned out fine. I would use the large/bulky cycle and err on the side of caution when adding detergent. Then I just hang them on a hanger to dry.

The LG caused no ill effects to our bathroom rugs and kitchen rugs. Any dryer with high heat though might damage the rubber backing or cause wrinkling.

I use an old cotton sock soaked in water, a little bleach and a little laundry detergent to wipe the rubber seal of any lint and moisture after every wash. Then I leave the washer door fully open so as to allow the washer to dry out dry out a little, then I close it slowly until the magnet holds it open just a little. If your gasket is stained then maybe increase the bleach in the cleaning water solution up to 1 part bleach, 3 parts water and a tablespoon of the "he" liquid detergent. All this works for me.

Try using a gel bleach product on it. It still might stain, but it's clean. Also, whenever you're done using the washer, wipe the rubber gasket and the door with a dry rag and leave it open for just a few minutes, you will avoid the mold.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. To clean the door gasket, it is recommended to wipe it down with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap. You may also use a bleach solution to clean it. Once it is clean, be certain to dry it thoroughly. It is also recommended to leave the door slightly ajar between wash cycles. If the gasket needs to be replaced, then this can be done by a licensed service technician. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

With mine, the prongs on the plug just had to be tweaked slightly when this happened - slightly wider IIRC - to make sure it would maintain contact. This was done after verifying the socket was good and noticing it attempted to power up when the drum was spun.

1- Get another electric gadget and see if it is the socket. You may need to have the socket replaced.
or
2- Look for a GFI outlet in your home. That GFI may need to be reset.

Question

Can I manually add water to this machine?

I have this machine (wm2250) and need to wash cloth diapers. Cloth diapers need a lot of water to really get clean, is it possible to manually add water to this machine during the wash cycle. I've used the water plus button, but it doesn't seem to do enough. Also, which cycle will use the absolute most amount of water? Thanks.

I've been using cloth diapers in this washer for 4 months. I start with a delicate cycle with extra water, no spin, and no detergent. When this is finished I do a cotton cycle with detergent. Since the diapers are soaked, the washer thinks it is very full and adds more water. I've also heard about people adding a soaked towel to their washer.

We bought this machine just over a year ago and have been washing cloth diapers in it since January. The two things needed for successful diaper cleaning are lots of agitation and lots of water; this machine has neither. Although LG will tell you not to add water, I've been adding water for some time now with no observable adverse effects on the washer; I wash our diapers on Bulky using the water plus option, add two to three gallons of water to every wash cycle, and I set the soil level to the highest setting. One cold wash, one hot wash, one to two rinse cycles. Good luck!

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. The amount of water used to fill the tub are calculated by the amount of time the water valve is open. The two cycles which run the largest amount of time for the water valve are the HANDWASH/WOOL and the BULKY/LARGE cycles. Additional water cannot be added to the tub other than by the WATER PLUS option.

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. It may be possible to wash this comforter. It is difficult to say about this particular comforter, as they can vary in size and thickness. It is first recommended to check and confirm the washing instructions of the comforter in question. Second, if the comforter can be washed if it can be placed in the wash tub with sufficient room to tumble and yet not get out of balance.

We regret your dissatisfaction with the operation of this washing machine. There is no way to increase the programmed water level of the wash cycle. However, this model does appear to have the EXTRA RINSE option, as well as the WATER PLUS option. It is also recommended to use less detergent for the cycle. It is recommended to use only about 2 Tablespoons of a High Efficiency (HE) detergent. This washer is not designed for use with any but a High Efficiency detergent.

If the question is whether there is a button or knob that says "HOT" - yes, there is. How hot it gets - that's a different matter. In my experience so far, hot enough to get the job done.
However, as far as I understand, this model lacks a heating element (I tried to locate it through the perforations in the drum and couldn't see it), so "hot" will be as hot as the water in your water heater or hot water mains (ideally...in reality, it will still be mixed with cold water) . The manual, which I had downloaded before purchasing this model, does say something about the heater and "extra hot"settings, which are nowhere to be found on the actual machine.

A comment from LG reps would be appreciated.

In the meantime, I feel your pain - on all my previous washers I liked to set the temp to 90C (almost boiling) for whites, cloth diapers and the like.

Question

water in drain pump

Is it normal to have water in the drain pump after each wash even though it's not clogged?
I was told to drain the water using the front lower access if I wash a lot. But the manual clearly states the only reason to drain if it's clogged.
So can I just ignore the advice about monthly cleaning if it's not clogged?
This is my first front loading washing machine so any advice will be appreciated.
