There are many low energy consumption peripherals that can be powered by the current in a USB port. The CP40NG10 is one of them. If you connect these items to a non-powered USB hub, they may not get enough current to work.

This drive supports bd-re for playback purposes only and not for burning. If you are trying to burn blu-ray discs with this machine it will not happen. This is a blu-ray player and dvd/cd player/burner. Hope this gets you on the right track!

Yes, the disc that is included with this drive is compatible with Windows machines. As such, the disc will not be compatible with your computer. You will need to find other compatible disc-authoring software that will be compatible with your MacBook.

Question

The Cp40 says its mac compatible

To follow up with the above question. Will a Macbook running OSX not recognize the drive at all until you can get it installed? I'm confused because the disk provided is for windows. What would be an alternative disc authoring program to use?

The disc simply contains operating software for Windows-based computers. It does not contain device drivers. These are provided by the computer’s Operating System. As such, the computer should still be able to recognize the drive. According to the specifications on this unit, this drive is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS. It needs a Pentium D 3.2 GHz or higher with a USB 2.0 port. It requires a compatible graphics card: nVidia: GeForce 7600GT or higher; GeForce 8400 or higher; ATI: ATI Radeon HD 2400 or higher. The graphics card driver has to meet AACS compliance criteria. The computer must also have at least 1 GB of RAM, and 60 GB of available hard drive capacity. Unfortunately, we have no information available related to MAC-compatible disc authoring software.

I apologize, but no; this portable drive is specifically a computer drive. The unit does not have the ability of processing the disc data without the software that will be installed on the computer hard drive.

Question

My disc has stopped accepting discs

I notice that in the center there is no holder where a disc can get attached: there is only a small screw like knob about 1-2 mm size that cannot possibly hold a disc: it is surrounded by a flat surface with no holder.
If there is a diagram that shows the appearance of the holding tray that would help to decide whether disc needs to be returned to you for further action.

Question

CP40NG10 not reading a Blu-Ray Disc

I recently received the Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray set. For some reason the Bonus Disc Two from the set cannot be read by my CP40NG10 player. So far it is the only Blu-Ray Disc that I cannot play. Is there anything that can be done to get the disc to play?

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this player. As this disc is a Bonus Disc, it is likely that this may have a different formatting than those other discs in the set. This alternate formatting may be incompatible with the software on your computer. The software on the computer would provide the only limitation to what can be read by the drive. It is recommended to check your software and its compatibilities to see if the disc might require something more.

Question

Why can't I burn a CD with this LG CP40 drive on my Macbook Pro using iTunes?

The desktop recognizes the drive. When I put a blank disc in the LG external drive the computer recognizes that and starts the prompt for burning cds in iTunes. When I click on FILE----> Burn playlist to Disc the next screen has the LG drive as an option. But when I click BURN iTunes asks me to insert a blank CD and it keeps flashing at the top. Why doesn't this drive work? What am I doing wrong or forgetting?

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this drive. According to our information, a standard BD-R disc should be compatible with this drive, when there is data on the disc already. This drive does not have the capability of writing data to a BluRay disc.
