The running on high or low speed is your personal preference. This is simply the fan speed, and not that of the full product operation. Yes, the unit will run for 4-hours and then shut off completely for 4-hours when you have used the TIMER button, and the indicator light is with 4 hr.

Your dehumidifier should show a BUCKET FULL code on the display, if it has reached capacity. If this is not the case, then the unit may require service. Low temperature operation

My unit (LG651EBL) is rated for low temperature operation. Would it be safe to leave the unit running in my unheated basement when temperatures are below freezing outside?

Low temperature operation dehumidifiers will still only operate down to about 45 degrees. In an unheated basement, in freezing weather, it is likely to get below this temperature, at which time, the coils will freeze, and the unit will cease to operate properly. It is recommended to turn the unit off when getting down to those temperature levels.

Question

My LD650edl wont let me change the fan speed unless I unplug it and let it power down and then replug it back in.

Also when I pick low it runs for a while but when I come back to check on it later it is back to high all by itself. And when running with the humidity level selected (not "on") the unit runs all the time. I can hear the compressor come on and off but the fan never stops. Is this normal? The manual states that the unit should shut off and come back on when the humidity rises. Also I see that this model is prone to problems and this is my 2nd one as my first one was replaced under warranty. Do I have another bad unit?

The operations you have experienced with the compressor operations and the fan running is normal. However, it is not normal for the fan to change its own operation speed or to prevent the changing of the speed. This unit will likely require service. Yes, a filter is designed to come with this dehumidifier. When the moisture-collection tank is removed from its location, from the front of the unit, the filter can then be extracted from behind the upper portion of the unit. It drops straight down, from above the tank. This can be viewed on page 14 of the owner’s manual that accompanies this product.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dehumidifier. It is difficult to determine the cause of this freezing condensation, beyond a possible coolant leak in the sealed system. We are not technicians, and as such, cannot specifically diagnose such an issue in this format. It is likely, however, that the unit will require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

I have the 65 pint dehumidifier - see details of problem below

Two times in the past two weeks the coils were frozen with ice. Each time I unplugged the unit and allowed to drain. I cleaned the unit each time to remove the ice. Now when I plug in the unit, the fan begins to run and it shows 70% humidity, but after approximately 3 seconds it shuts off. When the unit shuts off is shows 01% humidity and the bucket-full light blinks. The bucket is empty and the area is humid. How is this problem corrected? The unit is approximately one year old. Previously I owned a GE dehumidifier and ran it under the same conditions for almost 9 years.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dehumidifier. The CH 24 display message indicates an error with the pressure switch. Make sure the air filter to the unit is clean. Reposition the unit to ensure unobstructed air flow. Perform a reset on the unit by unplugging it for at least 3 minutes. Restore power to the unit. If it begins to run, then all should return to normal. If it does not, however, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair.... We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dehumidifier. Ice buildup on this product is typically caused by operating in an environment with low temperatures, or from a blockage of air flow caused by a dirty air filter or coils. The air filter is located behind the front panel. The water tank must be removed from the unit in order to access the filter, which slides down into the area occupied by the tank. The front panel is not to be removed, except by an authorized service technician.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dehumidifier. If the water is not collecting in the tank, and the drain pipe has not been connected through the back of the unit, then it would be recommended to check to confirm that the tank is properly seated in the unit. If it is, and the water still is getting mis-directed, then the unit may require service.
