Just got this washer yesterday. I found if you wait for the cycle to get to the wash stage (water in the agitator) and then turn it off (far left button, not the pause) then turn it back on again, it appears that washer goes back to load sensing with water still in the agitator and then adds more water. The cycle continues with more water in both wash and rinse stages.

The maximum drum temperature for a WARM cycle is around 130 degrees, but is most frequently around 120 degrees, while the ECO WARM is closer to 90 degrees.

Just pull out the soap dispenser tray and "dump" the water that is remaining into the tub of the washer. I actually leave some of the water in the dispenser since I use powdered detergent, and it dissolves the detergent for the next load.

The instructions call for the larger items to be on the bottom of the load and the smaller ones on the top of the load. Are you using the correct setting? Refer to your owner's manual for what settings to use for each load type. That makes a difference. Keep in mind, this washer is a new, unique machine designed to get clothes clean using very little soap and water with no agitator like in other, older type washers.

We appreciate your interest and concern regarding your washing machine. That which you have described is normal operation. While it may appear that the upper clothing is not moving much, there is agitation occurring, and the water power agitating through the clothing is much more active than it might appear. If you have additional concerns or questions about this unit, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Question

LG WT4801CW Washer - Water comes out hot when I have set on cold

I recently purchased the LG WT4801CW. I've noticed when I open the washer to add garment while it is filling with water, the water will be cold when I have set on hot, or hot when I have set on cold. It happens sporadically. I have checked hot/cold connections and that's not it. Also, I always run the hot water in the sink next to the washer, so hot water will be "primed." It always worked fine with my old washing machine. It seems to me the sensor is broken. And please don't say it's because the drum is cold and, thus, making the hot water cold. It's coming out of the sprayer cold. I've washed several "cold only" items, only to find out they are in hot water. What's the dealio?

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The COLD water cycle does incorporate the use of some HOT water in order to bring the load to the proper wash temperature, as specified by the clothing manufacturers. If you believe the unit to not be operating properly, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Not sure about using CLR. Tide makes HE washer cleaner you can buy in stores. Leave the lid UP on your washer when you are done using it so mold does not form and to keep bacteria from forming that causes rank oders. That is what I do.

answer 1
The difference between COLD and TAP COLD depends upon the incoming water temperature. The COLD setting will provide water between 65 and 75 degrees Fahreinheit. If the incoming water temperature is lower than this, hot water will be added to raise the temperature. The TAP COLD setting will run the cold water line only, regardless of the incoming water temperature. Temperatures below 65 will not activate laundry additives and may cause lint, residue, poor cleaning, etc. In addition, detergent manufactures and care labels define COLD water as 80-85. If the temperature of the water in the tub is too cold for your hands, the detergent will not activate and clean effectively. The ECO WARM feature is designed to be a setting between the WARM and TAP COLD temperatures. It provides the benefits of a warm wash, while using less energy. The water will be in the neighborhood of 90 degrees.

Periodically clean the washing machine to maintain its performance and to prevent malfunction.

You can use the TUB CLEAN feature:
Regular cleaning of the tub on a monthly basis using TUB CLEAN will keep the tub clean and fresh.

Clean the drum, TUB CLEAN
Using the washing machine in a humid space for a long period of time may lead to a buildup of black mold and germs in the air inside the washer tub and affect your health. If you clean the washer tub regularly on a monthly basis using TUB CLEAN it will keep the washer tub clean for hygienic use.

Add tub cleaner or lime scale remover into the detergent dispenser drawer.
- Do not exceed the maximum detergent limit line when you add it. Detergent may remain in the washer tub after cleaning.
- When you use liquid chlorine bleach, load it into the liquid chlorine bleach compartment.
- When you use a powdered cleaner, pull out the liquid detergent cup and add it into the main wash detergent compartment.
- When you use cleaning tablets, place them directly into the washer tub. (Do not add tablet cleaner to the drawer.)

LG washers are High Efficiency products; they use less water, less energy and less detergent to offer the most efficient wash experience. This model includes a load sensing feature that fills the tub with the amount of water required for the load. It also senses the washing time for each load. The big capacity lets you do a lot -- or a little laundry. It's up to you!

answer 2
The standard wash temperatures are about 90 degrees for WARM water, and about 120 degrees for a HOT cycle. When the water hits a stainless steel drum, which is naturally cold, it will automatically reduce the water temperature for a time. As the cycle runs, the unit is designed to raise this temperature. If the cycle is interrupted, some of the heat can escape, causing the unit to require harder work to raise the temperature again.

Question

I can't wash on Hot or Warm.

I just bought a WT480 Top Loading Washer. The water doesn't run long enough to get hot water to the machine. So even though I have it set on "Hot" or "Warm" when I check what is coming out, it is always cold. I think my clothes are washing in "Tap Cold" for every load. We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. It seems that what is needed, in this instance, is to have the water running before the washing machine is activated, so that the water temperature can increase to the point where it will be ready for a HOT or WARM cycle. The washer cannot run much more water, else it will cut down on the efficiency of the product.

The serial number label is in one of a couple locations on this washing machine. It can either be just inside the door frame, or posted upside down, on the back of the washer, so that it can be properly viewed by looking over the top of the unit.

Question

My towels and sheets are not getting clean!

I've done a load of sheets by themselves that required an extra rinse to get the soap/fabric softener residue off. Then I did a load of towels (with the machine about 1/2 full) and they came out completely dirty even though I had soil level on high. I did a second full cycle (with soil level still on high) and they STILL are not clean AT ALL. What is going on?

Question

Temp. of Water in machine during different periods of wash cycle

Currently, I'm running a hot water cycle. The water pouring into the basin is cold. Fifteen minutes later, the water in the basin is still cold. Ten minutes later, the water in the basin is cold (not hot, not warm even). So what is the problem?

I would appreciate an answer that would help in troubleshooting this problem with my washer. All the responses to the hot water issue/topic in this forum have been unsatisfactory. There is something wrong with the either the washer or the water inlets. What advice can you give?

Why do I have water left in the Drum and Detergent Compartment?

I have a top load washer (WT4801CW), that I bought 2 months ago from Best Buy. I have noticed after I wash a load, there is water left in the drum.

I cannot see the water or feel the water in the drum, but when I move the drum around with my hand. I hear water swishing around. Also, there is water sitting behind the detergent compartment.

These are both normal operation. A small amount of water is retained in the drum to prevent the possibility of hoses drying out on the washer. It is also normal for some water to remain in the dispenser compartment. This occurs when the compartment receives a final wash-through of water.
