is there enough water? during the wash cycle the clothes are only half covered...

I know it has a load sensor - can that be defective?

The clothing does not have to be submerged in water in order to be thoroughly cleaned. To do so would be inefficient. The unit has an outer tub that retains more water than that which is seen. As it cleans, the unit will also make use of this additional water. If the clothing is getting cleaned, then it is not likely that this sensor is defective.

The LG washers are designed for use with only High-Efficiency (HE) detergents. HE detergents are formulated specifically for HE washers and contain suds-reducing agents. Always look for the HE symbol when purchasing detergent. HE detergents produce fewer suds, dissolve more efficiently to improve washing and rinsing performance, and help to keep the interior of your washer clean. Using a regular detergent may cause excessive sudsing and unsatisfactory performance.

Question

what is the washing method of this washer?

How does the washing method in this washer compare to the wave technology, or are they the same?

The WAVE Technology is a label provided to the method which our washing machines use the force of the agitator spin and the water jets to provide a deep, yet gentle clean to your laundry. This model also uses this feature, even though it is not listed by name in our documentation.

Question

Is there a manual overide for the door lock?

I have just purchased this machine, and I am wondering if there is any way to open the lid if there is a power failure. I would hate to have wet clothes sit in washer for hours or days until the power is restored.

The lock is electrical, and requires power to the unit. If the washing machine does not have any power, then there will not be a way to manually unlock the lid. Check the breaker and the outlet to see if the power can be restored. If not, then the unit will require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Hello.

This is the recommended Clearance for the LG WT4801CW Washer:
Back 4″ (10 cm)
Sides 1″ (2.5 cm)
These measurements are based on water valves that are NOT recessed into wall.

Thank you for your question!

I apologize, but no; this washing machine does not have the capability of using extra water. The closest that it can come is the EXTRA RINSE cycle. The washer will continue to adjust the water level in accordance with the weight of the laundry in the tub.

This washing machine was developed for HE products only. It is not recommended to use any product in this washing machine unless it is specified for use with HE laundry devices. If it gives instructions on HE product usage, then follow those directions. If it does not, then we do not recommend using the product.

Question

Not enough water in the machine to wet all the clothes

I've had my machine for about 2 months. After I took the last load out, I noticed that one shirt had a large area that was completely dry. I understand that the machine is designed to use as little water as possible, but I don't understand how the clothes could be clean if they are not getting wet. What am I doing wrong? In order to determine the cause of this occurrence, we would need to speak with you directly, concerning the load and the cycles being used. The HEAVY SOIL feature will not necessarily utilize more water. It is designed to utilize more powerful tub rotations to provide more intense load agitation which works the detergent and water into the clothing more deeply, for stronger stain-fighting.

Question

How many Towels/Jeans?

I normally put at least 8 towels or 5 jeans in my old washer. This 3.7 cu ft washer is much bigger than mine old one. I read somewhere that you can put in 20 towels or 15 jeans. I'm not sure if that's correct or not. How many, on average, can I put in bath towels or jeans? Thanks.

Hello Gail,
thank you for your question about our LG Washer.

Yes, this model is designed specially to use only HE detergent, to make the machine as efficient as possible.

"Recommended detergent
Make sure to use HE (High-Efficiency) detergent for Top
loading washing machines. HE detergents dissolve more
efficiently and produce fewer suds to ensure efficient
washing and rinsing. Use the correct amount of detergent as
indicated on the label of the detergent packaging."
(Manual, Page 19)

We appreciate your feedback, please give us a “thumbs up” if this answer is helpful to you; and please let us know if we can assist you with anything else.

Have a lovely week!

Color-safe bleach CAN be used with this washing machine. It is simply not supposed to be added to the standard bleach compartment. Page 20 of the manual states “Do not add powdered or liquid color-safe bleach to this compartment.” On the same page, however, it also states “Liquid or powdered color-safe bleach may be added to the main wash compartment with detergent of the same type.” The “same type” refers to either liquid or powdered.
