Question

Why do I hear water sloshing under the tub after cycle is complete?

When removing clothes, I moved the tub and I hear water slohing under the tub. Is the water not draining properly? What could be causing this problem? Everything appears to be working properly otherwise. I have had the machine for 4 months.

I think that is the nature of this washer. Mine does the very same thing. There is also water in the detergent drawer. I have read on line that this seems to be normal for the washer and does mean there is anything wrong. If you are still concerned call the customer service number in your owner's manual.

We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. The sound you have heard is normal for this unit. Some water is retained in the outer tub in order to prevent the bellows from experiencing dry rot. This is not cause for concern.

Question

Why do I have water left in the Drum and Detergent Compartment?

I have a top load washer (WT4801CW), that I bought 2 months ago from Best Buy. I have noticed after I wash a load, there is water left in the drum.

I cannot see the water or feel the water in the drum, but when I move the drum around with my hand. I hear water swishing around. Also, there is water sitting behind the detergent compartment.

These are both normal operation. A small amount of water is retained in the drum to prevent the possibility of hoses drying out on the washer. It is also normal for some water to remain in the dispenser compartment. This occurs when the compartment receives a final wash-through of water.

when to add bleach how to open when ruunig

The unit comes with a Liquid Bleach Compartment. This compartment holds liquid chlorine bleach, which will be dispensed automatically at the proper time during the wash cycle. Avoid overfilling or splashing when adding bleach to the dispenser. The maximum capacity of the bleach dispenser is one cup of bleach per wash cycle. Overfilling could result in premature dispensing of bleach, which will result in fabric damage. It is not necessary to put the bleach inside the tub with the clothing.

Laundry may be added to the load at the proper time in the wash cycle. When the ADD GARMENTS light is illuminated, it is safe to pause the cycle and add more items to the load. If garments are added when the ADD GARMENTS light is off, the washer will not adjust for these items which could result in poorer performance or fabric damage.

If the washer remains idle for 8 minutes after pausing the cycle, the water in the tub will drain.

The clothing does not have to be submerged in water in order to be thoroughly cleaned. To do so would be inefficient. The unit has an outer tub that retains more water than that which is seen. As it cleans, the unit will also make use of this additional water. If the clothing is getting cleaned, then it is not likely that this sensor is defective.

The HEAVY SOIL feature will not necessarily utilize more water. It is designed to utilize more powerful tub rotations to provide more intense load agitation which works the detergent and water into the clothing more deeply, for stronger stain-fighting.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this unit. If the bleach has not dispensed the it is recommended to run a rinse cycle before running the next load, or to wash whites before running a load of colors, in order to prevent color damage. If it still does not dispense, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Color-safe bleach CAN be used with this washing machine. It is simply not supposed to be added to the standard bleach compartment. Page 20 of the manual states “Do not add powdered or liquid color-safe bleach to this compartment.” On the same page, however, it also states “Liquid or powdered color-safe bleach may be added to the main wash compartment with detergent of the same type.” The “same type” refers to either liquid or powdered.

Question

how clean when clothes dont move?

How does this machine clean the clothes when they dont even move during a cycle - some portions never touching water or being moved in machine? Dont see powerful jet spray either. How are clothes rinsed throughly when only rinse water is sprayed from above over top as it slowly spins ...means only those portions of clothes exposed get hit with water while the layers covered never do before it does a final spin? Waiting on answer to persons question on towel/jean load size too. About ready to return after just 1 load!

While it may appear to hold still, the drum is designed to move in several directions, and not just in circles. The 6Motion Technology operated by the Direct Drive Motor allows for gentler, more effective washing performance. It is designed to swing, agitate, rotate, rub, compress, and then the WaveForce technology. If, after a load, you find that the unit has not operated properly, then please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional assistance.

The EXTRA HIGH spin speed is a cycle that is available for five of the eight available cycles: Cotton/Normal, Heavy Duty, Bulky/Bedding, Speed Wash, and the Rinse&Spin. It appears to work best with heavier fabrics that have a tendency to retain moisture.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. Did the unit actually stop all operations, or did it just appear to quit moving? Some of the wash cycle operations occur when you cannot see active spinning of the drum. This is normal. The door will remain locked until the cycle is finished. If this is not the case, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Adding time during wash cycle, SOAK
Allows the consumer to remove stains more thoroughly by specifying additional time for the clothing to soak during washing. At the end of SOAK, the wash cycle will be started without drain.
• Cycle time will be increased by 30 minutes.
• It is normal that washer do weak agitation during SOAK cycle.

Question

why does it agitate with so little water? and why is hot water added to a cold water only setting?

My clothes were barely covered in water, in fact, I could see dry spots on the clothes, and the machine was agitating? How can the clothes be getting clean when they are barely wet and have no detergent on them? Also, when I manually selected cold water, why do I get hot water added too? One load of towels I washed in cold, when I paused the machine and felt the temperature of the water, it was warm. I didn't select "warm". not too sure about this machine.

The operations you have described are normal. Through the course of the wash cycle, there are several different methods by which the clothing is agitated, and the water is manipulated, to ensure a more efficient wash. The water is also contained in the outer tub, so more water is available than what is seen. Finally, the water temperatures used by each cycle are according to the clothing manufacturer’s recommended temperatures. A COLD cycle is actually recommended to be 65-80 degrees. A typical water supply, straight from the faucet, is not at this temperature, and as such, must be raised to the appropriate temperature. It is for this reason that hot water is added, and the water feels warm to you.

I apologize, but it appears that such an elbow bracket was not specified to be packaged with this model. Our PARTS records do not have a listing for such an elbow bracket for this model. However, certain accessories can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491. Another washer model shows a listing for this accessory. The part number for the hanger assembly is 3W50712A.

If the “hanger assembly” is not the device you have requested, then regrettably we have no other components available to suggest. The “hanger assembly” is designed to connect to the washer drain hose, to hold it into a curved pattern so that it can hook over the edge of a wash tub or drain.
