When will new Firmware be avaialble so that this works with iTunes on OSX Lion?

I can't see my LG NAS in iTunes and want to use this as my iTunes server. I have applied the newest update which fixed file sharing using AFP. But still no iTunes server.

How can I set files attributes to read only.

There are two methods for working with attributes on this unit. You can do so for individual folders or you can do so by groups. In the LG Network Storage Web Menu, find the REGISTERED FOLDER LIST. By clicking on the Folder Name, with the exception of the folder name, all its information can be altered. The other option is to click on a Group Name in the REGISTERED GROUP LIST, and then change the group attributes.

What is the procedure for using advanced format drives in the N2R1? LG documentation states that the device uses Linux Kernel 2.6. To paraphrase a major HD manufacturer, "the Linux kernel has had specific support for the alternate sector sizes and offsets used by..." "... Advanced Format disk drives since version 2.6.31. However, distributions based on Linux 2.6.34, the latest stable version of Linux, will provide the most thorough support. Advanced Format parameters are available in the sysfs file system from this kernel version onwards. Kernel versions older than 2.6.31 will not specifically detect Advanced Format Drives, but with proper alignment the system performance will be maintained. "

Is the LG version of the kernel older that 2.6.31 ? How can you perform the alignment, check the alignment?

According to the specifications listed on our website, this unit utilizes an embedded Linux Kernel, version 2.6, and supports Linux Redhat9, Ubuntu, and Suse. Unfortunately, we do not have support for the advanced format drive, since the kernel is older. There is currently no ETA for an update to this Kernel.

you will have to go to the U.K. website for this product firmware update.

My guess is that LG was overstocked on a product that was destined for obsolescence, with no future updates.

There is no prospects of a client interface update only the N2 models will have.

Working on lion is clunky but the Firmware 2660 helps a little.

As this model number is not listed as compatible with the “new User Interface” it is not recommended to use with the new UI. The “New UI” was designed to allow the older units to be compatible with newer firmware versions. As this is a newer model, it will have no need of such an update. The statement that “Nothing Works Correctly” is extremely vague. We would be more than happy to assist you in this situation. cannot login because of apostrophe [ ' ] in password

hi,
i've changed the default password on my NAS to a string that contains an apostrophe, here's an example:

what'sup

everything was ok until i reinstalled the software on my computer... cannot login to the NAS anymore, it's not recognizing my password.
any idea on how to login ? or how to reset / change the password without losing the data stored on the NAS ?
i've noticed that whenever i type in a password that contains an apostrophe, the error window has a different message - which is "Please Enter Your Password" - than when there is no apostrophe - message in this case is "Wrong ID or Password". please see attached screen captures.

Unfortunately, there is only one way to reset the password, and it cannot be done without losing the data on the device. We appreciate your interest in this network device. The new User Interface (UI) was developed for some older models, in order to allow them compatibility with new software and new features. If this unit is so new, it may already have the new interface. It would explain why there is no link to any new User Interface.

We appreciate your interest in our NAS product. Regrettably, it will not be possible to index the NAS on the Windows 7 libraries. It seems that indexed drives must be available OFFLINE. As this is a networked volume, it cannot connect offline. If ease of access is what is needed, the NAS Detector creates a Direct Access icon on the desktop for your convenience. You may also use your operating system to Map the drive or add the NAS as a Network Place. Hopefully this information will help in your endeavors.

When will the firmware update be available for Time Machine usage with Mac OSX Lion?

My Mac has now gone 3 months without a successful backup and if I knew it would be supported soon, I would stick it out. As it stands, much longer and I'm going to have to look for a replacement.

I would like to change my NAS from a Dlink 321 to the LG N2R1. Can I just put in my drives in the LG? Or does the LG have to reformat the drives? The Dlink is currently running in RAID 0.

Is there an initialize disk iso that I can download for the N2R1D?

I need to erase the firmware and entire system due to the inability to upgrade from fw v2570. The NAS device seems to be stuck at this fw version and refuses to allow me to upgrade or initialize it. It also does not save the configuration or allow me to create any kind of RAID or volume whatsoever. HELP!!

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is not initialization disk that you can use but there is an enclosure mode that you can use. Please turn off the unit and press the two arrow buttons and then press the power button. This will erase all of the data so back up the unit or files before doing this.
