No, the LX6500 does not use the Passive 3D technology. It utilizes Active 3D glasses with an infrared signal being transmitted from the television to the glasses, when the 3D feature is active, on the TV, and the glasses are powered on. The 47LW6500 does, in fact, use Passive 3D glasses, which do not require activation of the glasses.

The television should not have any difficulties in using a MacBook. It is recommended to check the resolution settings on the video controls of the computer. Make sure that they are compatible with the capabilities of the TV. Try to set the computer to output 1920x1080 at 60 Hz.

While the current web browser is only compatible up to Flash 8, many of the search functions for television viewing are already available separately at the LG App Store, such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon VOD, and many others. There are currently no plans to upgrade this browser.

All the websites I use are flash 10, mainly I use RTE Ireland to watch their full news TV shows and require Flash 10, When you follow the link to Adobe it detects the browser as a Linux browser but there are 5 versions, is it possible to install one of these flash plugins?

Some of the ZOOM features will certainly stretch the image off the screen. This is often normal operation, depending upon the settings and the original video. For optimum viewing and formatting of the images, it is recommended to use SET BY PROGRAM. If the picture is still getting cut off, even when using this setting, then the TV may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

Why can't I watch 1080p/24 formatted 3D movies from DirecTV on my 47LW6500 TV?

I can watch other DirecTV 3D DirecTV channels. I use only HDMI cables from my satellite box to my TV. The LG TV spec sheet says it should display 1080p/24 video - but it does not (not on my TV anyway).
How do I fix this problem?

I'm answering my own question --
My HDMI cable is 50 ft. long because the TV is over the fireplace and the equipment cabinet is in the back of the room. This is a long run, and if the cable is not of top quality errors may relult. In my case, the satellite receiver indicated that the TV was at fault. Not so. I replaced the cable with a very high quality cable and all is fine!!!

It appears that even though some cable sellers say their HDMI cables are 4.1 compliant, that does not necessarily guarantee the cable is good enough to work over long distances. You get what you pay for.

This tv works great for gaming. I have a pc hooked up to it along with other A/V devices. I do recommend you use a high quality HDMI cable rather than a cheaper one as it will make a difference in the data transfer rate to the tv. Using the VGA connection is also not as good an option as the quality isnt as good, like with any tv really but HDMI blows it away. I use my pc to even play 3D movies on this tv with no lag at all. Games too.

Most newer pc's have an HDMI connection anyway so you should be able to use this option.

It really all depends on what games you play....

I have had the tv for a year and anything that requires great timing like baseball games or music games like Rock Band and Singstar I have problems with whether its XBox or PS3 (I have both) because the lag between the video and audio is pretty sizeable even through in game calibration....

The audio is MUCH worse than the video and even when the AV Sync is maxed, there is still lag between speaking and what is heard audibly through speakers....

I would suggest digital video cable and analog audio to minimize the effects

This TV should be fine in gaming mode since that turns off the video processing features. I still use it with true motion on which can add lag but I haven't noticed it enough to be find it a problem so I use it even in my fast action online games.
