Can I do These various things with this TV
Can I plug Flash drive into USB with WMA movies, play them and convert them and view in 3d?...Also, can I get updated apps from the LG app store?..So if there is a new app for browsing the web and LG has it, will it update the TV?..

The tv does have two USB connectors. If you will use the provided wireless thumb drive for that you will have one open USB. The tv will convert any 2D video into a simulated 3D picture. Obviously this won't be like watching something actually videoed in 3D, but the conversion still does a pretty decent job. You can get apps (and updates). I've had the tv for a bit over 4 months and I think the firmware has updated about 3 times so far.
the LG app store tends to be a bit on the lame side, but you can add your own preferences and with it being connected to the internet (either wired or wireless) you can add your own preferred apps or access to providers. Hope this helps.

Question
Netflix aspect ratio
When running Netflix through the tv, the aspect ratio does not change to match a 4:3 aspect ratio. For some reason it always stretches the picture. Is there a way to change this setting for Netflix? It does work correctly when watching regular television. It is also not an issue when running Netflix through the attached PS3.

I don't run netflix, but I do use Amazon Prime to watch videos/movies.
You should be able to set the aspect ratio. When you are showing the input that you have Netflix, go to your video set-up and change to show "Native Resolution". That should keep the same format and eliminate it trying to stretch or adjust in some other way to force the picture to fit the screen and causing the picture to distort.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television. When viewing your Netflix video, access the Q.MENU feature. See if an ASPECT RATIO is available there. If not, then there will not be a way to change the ratio.

Passive 3D is a type 3D viewing where the glasses do not take an active role in producing the 3D image. The glasses will not require any charging or active lenses. The glasses are polarized lenses instead of active shutters.

The show you are watching is sent to you in 720p. Most cable companies have not made it to 1080p yet and will broadcast 1080i at best. Just... avoid 1080i and wait until cable companies sort out the delivery of 1080p. As I posted in another answer upscaling to 1080i causes disgusting visual artifacts worthy of 1996 content.

We appreciate your interest in this television. The native resolution of this unit is 1080p already. As such, all signals received by this television will be processed to fit the full resolution of the screen. If you are seeing a resolution listed differently on the screen, this is telling you of the resolution being received. The TV has no control over the signal it receives.

Question
LG 47LW5700 motion blur
I am having problems with blurring with fast action scenes. For example, I see it when an actor turns their face quickly to the side. It is not smooth, I see ghosting - multiple "still" images of the face as it turns. I have Time Warner Cable (Cisco HD cable box) and use an hdmi cable. It seems worse on certain channels. I have tried alot of different settings: TruMotion "OFF", "Low", "High" and "User" with de-judder set to 0 or 5 and de-blur set to 10. Is there something I can set on on the TV to improve this or is it the cable TV signal? Also, if TruMotion is "Off", is the TV still 120 hz?

TruMotion isn't the only thing that should be turned off. A few things... make sure aspect ratio is on "Just Scan" otherwise you're resizing, something that can lag the image. I don't have the set in front of me, but look for other "intelligent" type settings like TruMotion and turn them off. Filters, processors. Off. Noise reduction, for instance. Darn I wish I had the set in front of me.
The bulk of the issues I personally had were resolved by getting off 16:9 and going into "Just Scan". Also I had noticed my cable company was "upscaling" any incoming signal (be it 720p 480p or 1080p) to 1080i, which seems to be this television's worst enemy. 1080i is just plain inadequate and brings back the horror of motion-interlacing on HD. Make absolutely sure to stay as far away as possible from 1080i... it's visual cancer.
In my case I had to enter my cable box's settings (I had to call tech support to know how) and set my cable receiver to "Direct" (meaning the incomiong feed is not upscaled, downscaled or touched in any way shape or form)... HUGE improvement. Especially with sports. Cable companies configure their boxes like 75 year old men who know nothing of new technologies.

We appreciate your interest in this television. It is uncertain to what “pairing number” you are referring. The only device designed for pairing with this TV is the Magic Motion Remote Control, and it does not utilize a “pairing number”. Pairing is performed by registering the controller to the TV by pressing the ENTER button on the remote, while aiming it at the set.

No, Pandora is not currently available in the premium app selection. It has MOG (unlimited music on-demand), but I don't have a home theater system to want music content, so I haven't tried it.

It comes with the Wifi dongle in the box. It quickly found my wireless router and connected with no problems at all. The plug for it(a simple USB port) is clearly marked, and the manual will also show you the location.

We appreciate your interest in the features and compatibilities of this television. The only Wi-Fi adaptor that is compatible with this TV is the AN-WF100 wireless LAN dongle. This device should have accompanied your television, if it is actually the 47LW5700. Only the 32” version of this series should not have this accessory.

how do I keep the volume of ads the same as regular programs
We are also noticing that the volume is not consistent. Some days we need to turn the volume to 35 and other days to 75. Yesterday, it was stormy, so the volume was put on 100 and we barely heard the commentator on an Animal Planet show. We haven't watched movies yet, just TV shows. We noticed some stations have better quality of volume than others. It is just crazy to adjust the volume of the TV too often for having such a nice TV from LG. We bought the LG47LW5700 because we liked the product, but a bit disturbed about the volume sounds. We are young and our hearing is good. So, not sure what is going on with the volume controls. Please assist. Thanks.

Something is definitely wrong if you have to crank the volume that loud. If you're withing 8-12 feet of the tv (common viewing distance for this size tv) I can tell you I run my volumes typically between 10-16. Can't imagine having to crank the volume to the levels you're talking about. I recommend going in and double checking your audio set-up to make sure you have it set up for the internal speakers.

How do I disable the tv input
I have a lot of other things hooked up to the various inputs, but I don't have an antenna coming in because I have the DVR Cable Box running on an HDMI. It always makes me past by the "tv input" to get to the others and it just gives snow and loud noise. I don't want a choice for "tv"

Why don't you just plug the cable into the cable connection on the back of the TV? That is what we have done. Then just hit the input button when you want to watch other devices.

The different adjustments for the picture will be found in the PICTURE menu on the television. For easiest resolution, it is suggested to try either the PICTURE RESET option, to automatically adjust the set to its factory default specifications, or try the PICTURE WIZARD, which will take you through the different picture aspects, and show the changes you make before saving them.

Your surround sound system can connect to this television using the Optical Digital Audio Output jack. The television speakers will likely need to be turned OFF in the AUDIO menu. It is unknown to what is referred when you mention TV Ears. If this is a set of headphones, there is a port for headphones on the back of the television, but they will not be available simultaneously with the Home Theater System.

The web browser on this television is compatible with up to HTML4 and up to Flash 8 files. Most features of this television that require streaming have been developed into separate Apps, available in the LG Apps Store. There are no plans to update the capabilities of this television beyond the inclusion of new apps that may become available.
