Why does the water dispenser leak a few drips

Dear LG, Why does the water dispenser leak a few (3-4) drips after we use it? It causes a mess. We bought the fridge through HD about 3-4 mos. ago. Other than this, really like the product. Thanks a lot, Frank

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator and its dispenser. According to the information in the manual, some dripping and extra ice pieces may fall after dispensing is complete. Hold your cup beneath the dispenser for a few seconds after dispensing is complete to catch any extra that falls.

I apologize, but no; it will not be possible to lower the refrigerator compartment to a freezing temperature. It is recommended to check the vent openings to make sure they are not being blocked. It is also recommended to check the freezer to ensure that it is operating properly, as both compartments run on the same compressor system. If it still does not cool sufficiently, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

How to fix ER1F error message?

I've got an LG LFX31925ST French-Door refrigerator, and the past two days I have been receiving the error message, ER1F on the display. I have called LG Customer Service and they told me to unplug the machine for 3-4 hours, and after doing that the fridge worked fine for about 6 hours, but now it is again displaying the error message ER1F. What are some other troubleshooting options for this?

I had this issue and unplugged for 3 hours and it worked fine and thankfully it hasn't come back.

Unfortunately, I was told if it comes back after you defrost it, you'll have to call for service.

Sorry :(

The ER IF code is indicative of a problem with the Icemaker Fan or its motor. This can potentially be resolved by allowing the refrigerator to thaw for about 4 hours, and then reconnecting it. If it does not, then the unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

Error message?

The information panel to the left of the dispensor area has the text "Er" on one line and "1F" instead of the usual temperature information. I am unable to remove this text by pressing any of the available buttons.

What is this telling me? and how do I resolve this?

Thank you.

I just got this message myself.

It's from the fan in the freezer being frozen. Great huh?

I fixed it by unplugging the fridge and leaving it along for 3-4 hours. This will allow the fan to defrost. Nothing in there went bad, it held its temp rather well. Just don't open it a lot.

It hasn't happened since, but if it happens again after you let it defrost you'll have to call to have it serviced.

Hope this helped! I know it sucks but what can you do.

If you use a lot of ice, you may have to purchase ice cube trays to fill the freezer's ice cube storage bucket. We're only one day in to our refrigerator (and I see the staff answer says we may need to wait 72 hours), but we're emptying the in-door ice cube storage into cups significantly faster than it is refilling...

answer 2
Ice is made in the automatic icemaker and sent to the dispenser.
The icemaker will produce 12 cubes per cycle—
approximately 120 cubes in a 24-hour period, depending
on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature,
number of door openings and other operating conditions.

It takes about 12 to 24 hours for a newly installed refrigerator
to begin making ice. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production to occur.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

I apologize that you are experiencing this issue. Unplug the unit for a few seconds and plug it back in. This will reset the main board. In addition check the following. If the issue continues please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional troubleshooting steps or service.

Is the temperature set improperly (too warm)? Make certain that the temperatures for BOTH freezer and fridge compartments are set properly. The more food in the unit, the hotter the ambient temperature of the room, the more the unit is opened and closed, the cooler the unit should be set. This is because it will take more for the unit to keep it cool.

Is there anything blocking the vents in the compartment? Check the vents in both compartments. If anything is blocking the vents, the air will not be able to properly circulate through the compartment. Move any food that is blocking the vents to another location in the unit and allow 24 hours for temp to stabilize. See your Owner’s Manual for suggested food locations.

Is the door not closing properly? If the door is not closing properly, cold air will escape and thus prevent the unit from maintaining the set temperature. Check for items blocking the door. Check the seals to make certain they are clean and not damaged. With the door shut, feel around the door for air escaping.

Has a lot of food been added? Has hot food been added? Adding room temperature or hot food to the compartment will temporarily warm, requiring the unit to run longer to bring it back down to the set temperature. Please allow enough time for the unit to cool back down. How long varies, depending on amount and temp of food and the settings of unit.

Press the button next to the refrigerator temperature reading to adjust the temperature. Each press of the button should lower the temperature by one degree. When it reaches its lowest setting, another press will jump to the highest temperature, and allow you to descend the temperatures again. The freezer control works in exactly the same fashion.

Generally speaking, LG refrigerators are initially set with the REFRIGERATOR CONTROL at 37° F and the FREEZER CONTROL at 0°F. Leave them at these setting for 24 hours (one day) to stabilize. Then adjust the compartment Temperature. The actual inner temperature varies depending on the food status, since the indicated temperature setting is the target temperature and not the actual temperature within the refrigerator.

Question

Do you experience issues with dents on the stainless doors on model LFX28978SW ?

We purchased this model from Sears and have had 4 delivered with a dent in the same place on each refrigerator. The upper left door with the ice maker in it has had 1-3 dents on all 4 delivered models. The 4th one came yesterday and it was in a box and the delivery men opened it in front of us and there was still a dent in the upper left door. Is there a problem with this model? We don't know whether to cancel and purchase somewhere else incase its a warehouse problem. We like the LG and woud like to get one that is perfect.

Jen,

I own this refrigerator as well, and if you keep pressing the button next to the freezer temperature display, it will continue to count down, then "wrap around" to a number larger than 0 (I think it was 6 or 7), then you can keep pressing the button to lower the temperature back down to 0. Having an up/down would have been more convenient, I think, but this is functional, at least. :)

A thin layer of frost on shelves and food items is normal. However, if frost is forming around the door, at the back of the unit, or excessive other issues might be occurring.

Are the doors opened often and closing properly? Every time the door opens, cold air escapes and warm air enters the cabinet. The warm air contains moisture that freezes and accumulates in the unit. A small amount accumulating on food, shelves and rails is normal. Make certain that the door seal is clean. Check for cold air escaping from the door by running hand around the perimeter of the door. If you feel cold air coming out, check to see if the seal is damaged in that area.

Is there a food item blocking the door? If there is something blocking the door, preventing it from closing completely then warm air will be able to enter the unit. This will cause frost buildup in the unit. Rearrange the food items in the freezer so that the item is no longer blocking the door.

Is the temp set too cold? Frost buildup can also occur if the temperature is set too low when there is not much food in the unit and/or the doors are not opened very often. Try raising the temperature in the unit so that it is not as cold. How much will vary depending on amount of food and how often doors are opened.

Has anything hot been added to the compartment? Warm air contains moisture, which will freeze in the unit. Allow food to cool before storing in the unit. This will prevent frost from occurring.

Is there too much food stored in the freezer compartment? If there is too much food in the freezer, this will inhibit proper air circulation which will cause frost formation. Make certain that nothing is blocking the air vents and that there is not too much in the compartment. Try removing some items and rearranging the items.

If you continue to experience this problem, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional trouble shooting steps or service.
