Question

Has anyone tried to wash sneakers in this machine? How did it turn out and did it throw the machine off balance?

Generally speaking, LG does not recommend to wash sneakers in the top load washer. The shoes will cause the unit to be thrown off balance causing the unit to vibrate and beome unbalanced. You can wash the sneakers with an even amount of towels including in the washer. This will assist with the prevention of receiving an UE error code.

What does the 'Stain Care' feature do? The book just says "wash only small loads".

The Stain Care feature will extend the wash time of the cycle for enhanced wash performance. It also adds a 2nd Rinse. This a cycle enhancement option. This will not remove stains that have set in or have not been pretreated. The Stain Care Option only extends the time during the wash portion of the cycle and adds an extra rinse. There is no specific time for the option as it depends on load size and cycle selected.

The LG washers are designed for use with only High-Efficiency (HE) detergents. HE detergents are formulated specifically for front-load washers and contain suds-reducing agents. Always look for the HE symbol when purchasing detergent. HE detergents produce fewer suds, dissolve more efficiently to improve washing and rinsing performance, and help to keep the interior of your washer clean. Using a regular detergent may cause excessive sudsing and unsatisfactory performance.

Can I add liquid "Starch" on the Liquid Bleach Dispenser?

I just bought a WT5001C. I like to have my dress shirts with Light Starch. Can I use the Bleach Dispenser to pour some liquid Starch instead of using it only for chlorine bleach?.

Hello and thank you for contacting us. We do not recommend using any Starch in the unit as it is not specifically designed to operate with Starch. I do apologize and that would be a great idea to consider with our features on our washers.

The WT5001C High Efficiency Top Load Washer that features WaveForce™ Technology, ColdWash™ Option, and a SmartRinse™ Jet Spray System. This model is not equipped with an internal water heater that can adjust the temperature of the water once it is in the tub. Generally speaking, a water heater is set to deliver 120°F (49°C) water to the washer. The amount of clothing, temperature surrounding the unit, and the temperature of the home’s water heater can affect the desired temperature. Once the water is released into the tub, the temperature will decrease. If the water coming from the water heater is 120°F when it travels from the heater to the unit then into the unit, the temperature will decrease and by the end of the cycle, the temperature can be reduced by over half.

Question

Problem with condensation on floor WT5001CW washer

I purchased this washer and just had it delivered. It produces condensation on the floor when the dryer is on next to it. You can feel it from touching underneath the washer. I had the first one replaced as I thought it was a bad machine but this one is doing it too. I have a wood floor in the laundry room and want to know anything to help. This happens when the washing machine is not even operating - only the dryer. It is not a LG dryer.

Question

I need a drain hose extension, is there a part number for this?

My plumber says the standard drain hose extension that you can buy at most hardware stores will not work with this machine. Does LG have a specific extension for this machine? Just got it delivered, cannot use it. The machine I bought is wt500cw

The total height of the hose end should not exceed 96 inches (244.8 cm) from the bottom of the washer. The hose can allow it to reach that length. Unfortunately, LG does not manufacture an extension or longer drain hose. I will defiantly forward your suggestion to see if LG, in the future, can provide this item.

Yes the fabric softener will dispense period without choosing the fabric softener button. The fabric softener is dispensed in the final rinse. Select FABRIC SOFTENER button to change final rinse type from spray rinse to deep rinse. This will ensure that the fabric softener is properly rinse out.

NOTE: LG recommends using FABRIC SOFTENER or EXTRA RINSE options when selecting the COTTON/NORMAL or HEAVY DUTY cycles.
NOTE: If you select EXTRA RINSE instead of FABRIC SOFTENER, the fabric softener will be dispensed during the extra rinse course.

Thank you for your interest in LG products. LE error code can be due to various reasons from a miscommunication between the board and motor, overloading the machine, oversudsing of the machine, using improper detergent, etc. We would need to troubleshoot your issue to determine the possible cause. You may contact a Product Specialist at 1-800-243-0000 for detailed troubleshooting. Our agents are standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Question

It sounds like water is left in machine after a load is done?

There are no kinks in the water hose, fittings are secure. But after a load is finished, if I wiggle the tub a bit I can hear water under it. Water is not showing in the stainless tub at all, but I can hear a slight sloshing sound if I slightly giggle the tub so water is under it somewhere. Is it normal for a little water to remain in the machine after a load is done or do I need to call a technician (nooooooo). Thank you

Yes, it is normal for some water to remain in the outer tub of the washing machine. Having some residual water helps to prevent dry-rot of the water lines. As for the mobility of the inner wash basket, this is also normal due to the design of the motor and suspension.

Speed Wash has the lowest time frame of on average 35 minutes per cycle. The washer cycle time is based on the load size.

When the START/PAUSE button is pressed, the washer automatically detects the wash load (weight) and optimizes the washing time, based on the selected cycle and options. The display will then indicate the estimated time remaining for the selected wash cycle.

NOTE: The cycle time displayed may appear much longer than that of a top-loading washer. The displayed time is for the complete cycle, rather than just the agitation portion of the cycle, as is typically shown on a top-loading washer.

Laundry may be added to the load at the proper time in the wash cycle. When the ADD GARMENTS light is illuminated, it is safe to pause the cycle and add more items to the load. If garments are added when the ADD GARMENTS light is off, the washer will not adjust for these items which could result in poorer performance or fabric damage. So pretty much as long as the ADD GARMENT light is on, you can press the pause button, allow a couple of seconds for the lock to disengage, then add clothing. Once you add the clothing, you will have to press the pause button once again to allow the cycle to proceed. Once you press the pause button, it will take a few minutes for the washer to adjust to the new weight of the clothing.

If the washer remains idle for 8 minutes after pausing the cycle, the water in the tub will drain.
