I apologize, but no; it is not recommended to use packet or tab washing detergent. The manufacturer recommends the use of a liquid or powdered detergent in the appropriate detergent cup in order for the unit to be able to dispense the detergent and other additives at the appropriate time during the wash cycle.

Question

Why does the hot water wash in this top loader only reach 87 degrees and the hot water wash in your front loader reach 122 degrees?

The top loader is designed to heat the water to an average of 87 degrees. Because a top loader uses more water than a front loader, in order to meet energy efficient standards it must offset the water usuage with a lower water temperature. It does not matter what temperature you have your water heater set at - it is programmed to run both hot and cold water in for the hot water setting. Most customers do not know this and are not told this at the time of purchase. The warm setting for a front loader is an average of 104 degrees and the cold setting is 77 degrees. The hot water wash temperature for a top loader is less that the warm water wash temperature for a front loader. The only way to circumvent this is to babysit your machine by running hot water in from the sanitary cycle (and then changing the cycle), turn the cold water faucet valve off while the machine is filling or manually add hot tap water from another source.

The way the machine works is by taking hot water from the hot water pipe. If the water coming into the machine is 70℉ then the water used in the machine will be 70℉ , if the water being fed into the machine is 120℉ then the water used in the machine will be 120℉ and so on. The heater does not switch on for any other course other than Bright White and Sanitary.

I know it is confusing for the customer that when you press 'Hot Water' and they get 'what ever temperature is being fed in' water. But this is how the machine is designed to keep inline with the Energy Saving mission.

When you switch on your household water heater before stating the washing machine the water temperature will be higher but unfortunately this is the only advice I can give. I hope this helps.

Question

Does the LG Wave Top Load HE machine require homeowners to have a water softener to get good results?

My clothes do not seem to come as clean with this machine as with my old agitator machine. I have had the machine for about a year and my whites are all now permanently gray. I use HE detergent. I follow the tub cleaning procedures in the manual. I do not overfill my machine. I use the proper settings for the clothing. I have tried a variety of higher setting in hope of improving results (inculding sanitary for almost 3 hours), adding bleach, adding oxyclean type boosters, etc. Nothing has helped. My whites are gray. The only thing I have not done is purchase a water softener. Would a water softener improve my results? HELP!

No. I have water softener and my clothes are still not clean unless I add extra detergent to the clothes directly, after filling the detergent compartment. I use liquid detergent.

We regret the trouble you have experienced in this matter. A water softener will not help with this situation. To use such a device will cause the increase of suds, which will hinder the operation of the washing machine. If this unit is not getting your clothing clean, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

I apologize, but no; we cannot recommend the washing of any rugs with a rubber bottom. Unfortunately, no matter how gentle a cycle might be used, the potential is high that the backing can become separated from the rug, and get caught in the drain pump. Such an obstruction to the pump can be damaging to the product.

The OE error usually means the load is out of balance. If you take all of the clothes out and rearrange them evenly then push the start button it should resolve. This happens to me a lot when washing sheets and towels which are heavy when soaking wet. Good Luck

answer 2
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The OE error code is indicative of a clogged drain line. If the water is not draining out at all, then you may need to use the drain tube on the front of the washing machine. Behind the panel at the bottom of the front of the cabinet, you will be able to locate a small drain tube and a coin trap. Be certain to have something to catch the water as it drains from these two locations. It may be that this coin trap will contain what is clogging the drain. Clear the drain tube before you open the larger coin trap, as this can save you a watery mess.

Question

How to load the washer

In an ideal world, we would all take the time to load the washer with items correctly balanced all around the tub. However, in a house with kids that do their own laundry this rarely happens. Is the washer still able to run correctly even if the load is just poured in from a basket?

Just add the clothes loosely, don't press the clothes down. The machine will give the clothes an initial spin to balance the load. Sometimes this does not work if you are washing a heavy blanket or pillow with light clothes. It will stop and show an "out of balance" code. I will suggest washing the heavy items seperately.

To incorporate bleach into your wash, use the Liquid Bleach Dispenser located on the front corner under the lid. The bleach dispenser automatically dilutes and dispenses liquid chlorine bleach at the proper time in the wash cycle.

The 3 cycles that immediately come to mind for your purposes would be Towels, Sports Wear and Sanitary cycles. The Ultra-Capacity (5.2 cu.ft.) washer lets you do more laundry in fewer loads, so it will get more towels done quicker.

Question

Why is half of the load sticking out of the water? Why does the machine add water after opening?

Whenever I wash towels or something that absorbs a lot of water, the machine doesn't fill enough, even if I push the extra rinse button. My clothes are half out of the water and come out a wrinkled mess. If I open the machine, even if I don't add anyother clothes, the machine then fills up, most times to the proper level. I was told to use the towel setting, which I do, and even push the extra rinse /extra waterbutton. Today, it told me my wash would take 1:45, that's ridiculous! What's the problem?

Question

Where are the high powered sprays in my machine that the little model in the store has?

We were shown a little machine that had high powered sprays, about 6 of them at the top of the washer tub. That was the big selling point of our machine, but today when we ran the machine and examined the top of the tub, there aren't any sprayers there! I looked on u-tube and saw the same demo, it said they were hydro sprayers, so I looked that up on your website and there is no such thing! I'm just a whole lot confused at why I was sold on a feature for my machine that does not exist.

Our new top Load washer is making waves. LG's Wave™ Series has removed an agitator that can wear down delicate fabrics. Instead, LG's proprietary WaveForce™ technology uses centrifugal force to create waves of water for powerful cleaning with a gentle touch. Add to that a usable load capacity that's over 10% larger than Whirlpool and Maytag top load washers*, and there's definitely something better about LG's high efficiency top load washers. Rapid drum movement and powerful water jets provide outstanding washing and rinsing performance, while staying gentle on clothes. Due to the size of the mini-display unit, the feature can be heavily exaggerated in order to show the features. More information in the technology and features of our innovative top load washer can be found at http://www.lg.com/us/laundry/top-lo....

This unit does not have a lint filter. The only filter that needs to be maintained is the Water Inlet Filter. If the washer detects that water is not entering the dispenser, an error message will show on the
display. If you live in an area with hard water, this may be caused by clogged inlet filters. Please refer to the Owner's Manual for cleaning instructions.
