If the water is not draining from the tub, one possible solution might be to check the drain tube and the pump filter, which are both located behind the small panel, at the lower left corner of the washing machine. Once the access panel has been opened, and something has been placed to catch the water as it is released from the unit, remove the plug from the drain hose, and allow the water to drain completely. Once it is empty, twist the pump filter counterclockwise, in order to remove it. Remove any lint and foreign objects from the trap. Be certain to reinstall everything securely, in order to prevent leakage. If this does not resolve the matter, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

Why does my brand new washer have water on the inside of it?

I just purchased the WM2240CW front load washer. I have not used it yet and twice I have noticed condensation on the washer door as well as traces of water inside of the washing machine. The first time I noticed it I dried the door and inside of the washer. It has happened again and I am not sure what is going on. Again it is a recent purchase and I have not washed my first load. Please help.

If you have not washed a load, and yet there has been water found around the unit, then it would seem that there is a water leak somewhere either in the unit or around it. It is first recommended to check the water line inlet valve connections to ensure that there is nothing coming out. If the leak is from under the unit, then it may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Cleaning the Dispenser
The dispenser should be cleaned periodically to remove buildup from detergent and other laundry products.

1. Pull out the dispenser drawer until it stops. Press the button in the center of the drawer and pull to remove the drawer.

2. Remove the inserts from the drawer, and clean them with warm water and a soft cloth or brush to remove any residue or buildup. Wipe out the inside of the drawer opening with a damp cloth. Reassemble the drawer and reinstall in the drawer opening.

NOTE: Do not use anything other than water to clean the drawer, inserts, and drawer opening. If any sort of household cleaner drains into the interior of the washer, run a RINSE+SPIN cycle before washing clothes.

Please see the Owner's Manual for illustrations if needed.

The LG front load washers are designed for use with only High-Efficiency (HE) detergents. HE detergents are formulated specifically for front-load washers and contain suds-reducing agents. Always look for the HE symbol when purchasing detergent. HE detergents produce fewer suds, dissolve more efficiently to improve washing and rinsing performance, and help to keep the interior of your washer clean. Using a regular detergent may cause excessive sudsing and unsatisfactory performance.

The LG washer/dryer combos use a condensing dryer system. Conventional dryers heat and circulate air throughout the clothes, picking up lint and moisture, and then passing it out of the unit. All that air and energy is then thrown out of the unit along with the energy it took to cool/heat that air. The heater has to reheat/cool that air again.

Water based condensers are popular in combination washer/dryer units. The air inside the machine is heated and circulated through the clothes, then passed through a chamber where the contact with a fine mist of cold water causes the moisture to condense. The condensate collects in the bottom of the chamber and is pumped down the same drain as was the wash water. The dry air is then re-circulated through the clothes to begin the process again. This is a sealed system with no discharge of heat, lint, or humidity.

Due to this type of system, additional time cannot be added to the cycle. All time must be set at the beginning of the washing cycle in order for the necessary amount of hot water to be used to produce enough heat to allow the condensation process to work.

If you open door and remove load before dryer has finished its cycle, remember to press the Start/Pause button. If the door is opened at anytime before the cycle is over, the clothes might not dry properly as the heated condensation will be cooled down and will not be able to reach the heating level again.

An OE error presents if the washing machine has not successfully drained the water in ten minutes. However, the OE error code does not always mean that the washer requires a service call. If periodic maintenance has not been performed on the washer, there are a few simple steps to take before calling for service.

Step 1: Check the drain pump filter. Items caught in the drain filter will prevent proper drainage. Over time build up can occur from detergents and additives used in the machine. Manually drain unit through the drain hose, then lay a towel down to catch the water, and remove the filter. Clean the filter thoroughly and restart the machine.

Step 2: Check the washers drain hose. If the drain hose is not installed properly, the washer will not drain properly. The drain hose should not be installed more than 1 meter higher than the bottom of the washing machine

Step 3: Confirm that the washer is leveled properly. If the unit is not leveled properly, it will not drain properly. The front of the unit cannot be higher than the back or vice versa. If not properly leveled, the water can flow back into the machine. If this is the cause of the problem, please level the machine using the supplied leveling wrench. When you place a LEVEL on the washing machine, the bubble should be in the center. Confirm that the washer is leveled from side to side and front to back.

Lint and other objects may accumulate and clog the drain pump filter. Generally speaking, it is best to clean the drain filter at least once a month. IT is normal for water to remain in your washer at all times. If the unit is used frequently, it may be necessary to clean it more often but does not have to be completed after every wash.

Yes! Please ensure the bolts have been removed prior to using your new washer. This could cause severe damage to the drum and exterior portions of your unit. In addition, you should level the unit, from top to bottom, corner to corner. Please make sure your unit is on a solid constructed floor, not a floating floor. There are several factors that can cause a unit to shake. If you are sure you have tried all of the above, please contact our Support Team at 800-243-0000 for assistance.

Generally speaking, most washer and dryer installations require a minimum 5-5 1/2 inch clearance behind the unit. An additional 1 inch on all sides is recommended to reduce noise. For specific information regarding the installation of your units please refer to the Owner's Manual.

The seal must be extremely tight in order to prevent any leakage on a front load washer. Due to this, the door cannot be reversed. Generally speaking, most LG dryers can have the door reversed to allow our consumers with a choice of access for easy accessibility. Please refer to the Owner’s Manual on the unit for more information.

Hi and thank you for contacting us. LG's goal is to continue to provide quality, durable and convenient Appliances for the growing market. We consider every want and need of our consumers and build our products around that; the purpose of the "draining" as designed is to provide an outlet other than the normal draining system in the event there occurs a clog of some sort that would cause the unit not to drain as normal.

This is a feature LG felt was a plus in the market for our consumers. We appreciate the feedback concerning our product design and will be sure to keep your submission and suggestion in mind.

We thank you again for your time and view.

When the START/PAUSE button is pressed, the washer automatically detects the wash load (weight) and optimizes the washing time, based on the selected cycle and options. The display will then indicate the estimated time remaining for the selected wash cycle.

NOTE: The cycle time displayed may appear much longer than that of a top-loading washer. The displayed time is for the complete cycle, rather than just the agitation portion of the cycle, as is typically shown on a top-loading washer.
