This player has already been designed to read REGION 1 and REGION ALL (0) discs. However, due to licensing restrictions in place by the FCC and the MPAA, it will not be possible to advise on the possibility of unlocking the player to play discs from each region.

No, there is currently no software developed that will allow this player to display a 3D movie. Such software will not be developed for this unit because its designed hardware would not be able to support such a feature.

I apologize for the confusing information you have received. According to the owner’s manual, on this device, it is possible to use a USB Hub for the BD640. However, not every device that is connected to such a Hub will be compatible. Page 24 of the owners manual states “If you use a USB extension cable, USB HUB, or USB Multi-reader, the USB device may not be recognized.” The following pages mention some uses where a USB Hub would be needed; such as accessing BD Live content when you are using the wireless LAN adaptor. We cannot guarantee the operation of your SD Card Reader.

Question

Can I use a USB hub on this player?

I like the Wireless LAN adapter, but I would also like to use flash drives for music files, pictures, videos, and maybe even use BD-Live, but the player seems to have only ONE USB port on it. I was wondering if it were possible (supported would be preferred) to use a USB hub device so that I could use the LAN adapter AND a USB flash drive. Thanks in advance.

This player should not have to be reset each time it powers down and restarts. It seems that there may be something wrong in the portion that retains its data, but it is difficult to tell specifics without having the unit inspected. It is recommended to contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to make proper service arrangements.

I apologize, but at this time we have no information on the addition of this feature to the NetCast players. The addition of features is only available if the content producers develop and release such an update to these players. Any updates would be sent directly to the player. In order to obtain all the online features that are available on our Smart TVs, without having to obtain an entirely new TV or player, it is recommended to obtain the Smart TV Upgrader, model ST600 which will allow the Smart TV features which are available through the LG Apps Store. Information about this device can be viewed on our website at http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video....

Question

I can't skip through movie trailers and access disc menu, is there a remote shortcut

I am watching my first blu-ray movie and the BD 640 Blu Ray player is making me sit through the movie trailers. When I press "disc menu", it shows a circle w/cross showing that feature is not availalble.

I tried different variations of Stop > Play a number of times. No luck.

This is often the case with many disc producers. You might try pressing STOP two times, and then press DISC MENU. This may resolve the matter for you. Otherwise, this may simply be a limitation imposed by the movie manufacturers.

I understand that the modem allows for wireless connection. It is recommended to connect the player to the modem directly, using a standard LAN cable. It is also recommended to check the IP address settings listed in the player’s menu. If these are all set properly and the unit still cannot connect, even with a wired connection, then it will be recommended to contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional troubleshooting.

Question

Will the Blu Ray player BD640 ever support subtitles on Netflix?

I understand that most blu ray players do not support subtitles on Netflix like on the Sony PS3 and other devices. I was wondering if there were any plans to support this capability. I have this player in my living room, but sometimes I choose to view Netflix shows and movies in the bedroom where I have a PS3 because it supports subtitle texts. I use subtitles so I don't have to turn up the volume and have angry neighbors. Any chance this might be in a firmware update for the player soon? Thanks in advance.

At this time, we do not have any players that can access subtitles from Netflix. This is related to the interface software provided by Netflix. Netflix is working on an update to their software, but we cannot guarantee that these units will be able to support subtitles.
