Question

Buying 3D Movies for Passive Glasses

I was wondering if the blu-ray movies that are made for 3D TVs are compatible with the LG passive 3D, or are these blu-rays only for the shutter type technology.

The 3D BluRay videos are all the same in their formatting, as regards the 3D content. The only difference for the 3D glasses is the individual 3D TV.

Question

Trumotion won't turn off when watching netflix streaming movies.

I don't like the "soap opera" effect that Trumotion gives to movies and therefore have turned this option off on all the various picture types. However when I stream Netfix movies it appears to me that this option remains on. How can I fix this?

We apologize for your displeasure in the operations of this feature. When using the online content, the only options will be those available in the Q.MENU screen. Unless something has changed in an update, the TruMotion feature is not available on this list, and as such, cannot be adjusted using online content. The TruMotion feature is set to ON by default. If it is not in the Q.MENU list, then it cannot be adjusted with NetFlix.

The clock is not designed to receive a clock signal from the Internet. It can only receive this time information from a digital television signal. A basic cable service or over-the-air broadcast should provide this information properly.

This television does not appear to be compatible with an iPhone, according to information in the owner’s manual. You can certainly try a 0-0-0-0 code, which is standard for pairing items with our TVs. We cannot guarantee its operation.

There is no setting by which the background “skins” can be switched. The only option might be to activate the SCREEN OFF feature in the ENERGY SAVING modes of the PICTURE menu.

The capabilities and settings of the YouTube App on this TV are set by the content provider; in this case, that would be YouTube. You may contact YouTube through their site and bring up your concerns with them. It may be that they are preparing an update for their YouTube App interface.

Question

Flash ability

I bought this TV (47LW5600) because the LG rep at Best Buy here in Durham NC, told me that the web browser had an old version of flash enabled and it was only a matter of time that flash 10 could be downloaded. Is this true? Please let me know because if not I will return the TV

It will not be possible to download a newer Flash player. This television is designed with Flash 8. Many functions requiring a higher version of Flash Player will be available separately, in the LG Apps Store. The web browser is not capable of downloading a higher version of Flash player.

The dimming of the screen which you have noted is a feature of the Smart Energy Saver feature of the television. By deactivating the Intelligent Sensor, or by deactivating all of the Energy Saver features, this dimming effect will be stopped.

All codes to be used will be located in the setup instructions for the Universal Remote Control. If you have experienced trouble in locating codes for LG, you may also try using Zenith or Goldstar codes, as some of these coincide with LG frequencies. We really cannot make any recommendations for any particular Universal remote control. Replacement remote controls can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491. The remote needed, for this unit, is listed as part number AKB73295502.

We would be more than happy to assist in this matter. In order to troubleshoot this matter, some additional information would be required. What is the source of the video files? How about the audio? Are they on a disc or on a USB drive? What are the file extensions of each of these files? Each of these questions, and others, will require an answer in order to assist with this television. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 so that we might properly troubleshoot this matter with you.

Thank you for your question. In order to connect speakers to your unit, you will need to connect one of the optical cable to the TV port of OPTICAL DIGTAL AUDIO OUT. Connect the other end of the optical cable to the digital audio input on the audio equipment. You should be able to hear audio through your music device. If you do not want to hear the TV’s speakers, set the “TV Speaker option – Off” in the AUDIO menu.

Question

In 3D mode, why only first 3 out 5 thumbnail are selectable.

In 3D mode, there are 5 modes to select from. The most useful one would be the first on the left which converts 2d to 3D. However, the two on the far right are shaded and can not be selected. Any reason why?

The five viewing modes, to which we have information, are the 2D->3D, Side by Side, Top & Bottom, Checker Board, and Frame Sequential formats. These are different versions for the 3D content to be formatted. Some 3D content is not compatible with certain formats: for instance, a video that is formatted with a Side by Side 3D format may not be compatible with a Checkerboard screen configuration. As such, some formats are restricted according to the video content. This is normal operation.

No, this television does not have the capability of using headphones and the TV speakers simultaneously. Also, the only audio output connection available for this unit is the Optical Digital Audio Output that is designed to operate with a Home Theater System. It does not have a headphone jack available.
