For proper setup operation the Audio/Video signal should be sent to the television and then, while the devices are connected with the OPTICAL Digital Audio cable, turn the TV SPEAKER setting off in the the AUDIO menu. This should send your audio out to the audio system at the proper time. If you have additional questions about this matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Question

Audio output for sampling

This TV does not appear to be compatible with standard digital to audio converters.
I need to use headphones; yet, I cannot use them with this TV because it only has optical audio output.
Tried using a digital to analog converter in between them, but the first I tried, only got me a loud strobo effect with this TV, while it worked fine with other digital outputs. Tell me what makes this TV not to work with it properly? I cannot find any audio output data for LG42LH30; would like to know: the bit rate, sampling rate (32, 44.1, 48, 96, 192 kHz...???), the code itself (AC3, PCM encoding, 2 Channel LPCM), etc...
Please, specify all the relevant data regarding the digital audio output that I need to know in order to find a converter that works with this TV?
Thank you!

The OPTICAL Digital Audio Output port has not been designed for operation with a digital to analog converter, nor has it been designed for use with headphones. This Audio Output jack is designed for use with a digital audio system, such as a Home Theater Unit. The manual specifies to use this port “if you want to enjoy digital broadcasting through 5.1-channel speakers”. Beyond this, the output jack is supposed to transmit the audio signal in the format in which it has been recorded.

Question

Does the 42LH30 really have TRUMOTION 120?

The description on the 42LH30 says it has TRUMOTION 120. However, I don't see this setting in any of the menu options. Is this feature really available on this model and is there a way to turn it on or off?

When the television has its Key Lock feature active, the KEY LOCK message will appear on the screen if any button on the front panel is pressed, while viewing the TV. This feature can be deactivated by using the REMOTE CONTROL to access the OPTION menu, on which is located the KEY LOCK setting. Deactivating this feature should allow the keys on the TV to operate again.

Question

TV picture quality

I have a 42LH30 that has a perfectly rectangular bright vertical stripe that runs the entire height of the screen that starts right up tight to the left side of the screen and is 4 11/16" wide. Depending on what is being shown on the screen it goes from barely noticeable to very noticeable. It started approx. 6 months ago. We have had the TV since 7/22/09. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Mike

Question

Half the screen looses color

The left half of the screen will loose most of the color. When this happens any motion on that side of the screen has a blurred effect to it as well. If I grab the top corners and twist is a little it will sometimes return to normal right away. Now and then this problem will happen to the entire screen. I've read with other brands that a board needs replaced, is that the same issue that is going on here? If so, where can I purchase it from?

You may also try to RESET the audio settings in the SOUND MODE function of the AUDIO menu. If this still does not resolve the matter, then the unit may require service. I apologize for the confusion. The statement that appears to be speaking of a TruMotion feature is mentioned to be from the LH40 series, rather than the LH30 series. The 42LH30 television does not appear to have the 120Hz refresh rate, nor does it have the TruMotion feature.

When viewing television signals from the external antenna, the television will be able to provide the Closed Captions. When viewing the VIDEO1 setting, for the VCR, the VCR remote control will need to activate the captions in the VCR menu. When viewing the Cable Box, the cable remote will be needed to activate the captions in the Cable Box system. When attempting to use the captions feature, you will have to consider which device’s tuner is in use. The TV can only control those captions generated by its tuner, and the TV tuner is only operable through the ANTENNA mode. If you have additional questions about this situation, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.
