We appreciate your interest in this washer and dryer. If the WDP3W is currently available in your area, it is the model designed for compatibility with this washer and dryer. It is also, however, no longer being manufactured. The only pedestal currently available is the model WDP4 series. An adaptor kit will be required to make the units compatible. This kit is part number AAA30793428. Accessories can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491.

Question

I must be using mw2487hwm incorrectly; there can't be so many problems with it

1. There is hardly any water in this washer, with or without the water plus option. Normal front loading have the water level at maybe 40% or 30% percent. This washer the water is so low, you can't even see it from the window and when you stop it half way through the wash cycle, the water is barely discernible. What is the normal water level?
2. I had clothes that smelled pretty bad, real bad. I put them in, added bleach and detergent, chose heavy soil and after 97 minutes, the clothes smelled just as bad and worse yet, the washer smelled too. Can this really happen?
3. why does it take so many breaks while it tries to fill up the tank (even though it doesn't actually fill up anything !!!)
4. Was it installed incorrectly?

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this washing machine. The LG Front Load machines are designed to be different from the “normal” front load machines you have mentioned. This unit has both an inner and outer wash drum. As the water fills, it runs into the outer drum, to an average of 12 to 15 gallons of water. Traditional washers typically use between 50-60 gallons. As such, it is not uncommon for the water level to not be readily seen. The initial tumble pauses frequently in order to make sure that the load is balanced around the drum. The water level varies according to the amount and weight of clothing in the load. As for the smell, it is recommended to run the TUB CLEAN cycle. Page 25 of the owner’s manual discusses this cycle. Do NOT use this cycle with clothing, detergent, or fabric softener. According to the manual, it is recommended to run this cycle monthly to prevent such a smell.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this washing machine. If water drips from the seal BETWEEN wash loads, then this means that water was not escaping during the wash cycle, which is according to the design of the unit. Remember to wipe the gasket dry, between loads, to prevent moisture retention.

Question

How do you clean the large gray round rubber gasket that seals the water from the door? It gets dirt and mildew built up behind it.

The smell is horrendous and overwhelming, affecting the odor of the clothes. Is there a way to remove the gasket for cleaning? The monthly cleaning cycle recommended in the manual does absolutely nothing to address this problem.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced in this matter. It is recommended to wipe the gasket down, to remove excess moisture at the end of each cycle. Leave the door open slightly to allow air circulation in the drum to allow the unit to dry. For the gasket itself, the fold in it will need to be periodically cleaned with a bleach and warm water solution. If this still does not resolve the matter, then the gasket may need to be replaced. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

The model WM2487HWM has the TUB CLEAN cycle located on the EXTRA RINSE option button. Instructions on how to best use this cycle can be found on page 25 of its owner’s manual. Add tub cleaner or lime scale remover into the detergent dispenser drawer. Do not exceed the maximum detergent limit line when you add it. Detergent may remain in the washer tub after cleaning. When you use liquid chlorine bleach, load it into the liquid chlorine bleach compartment. When you use a powdered cleaner, pull out the liquid detergent cup and add it into the main wash detergent compartment. When you use cleaning tablets, place them directly into the washer tub. Do not add tablet cleaner to the drawer.

The shipping bolts are designed to keep the tub stable while shipping from one location to another, to protect the stabilizers from being stretched out of place or becoming unbalanced. The manufacturer would recommend installing the shipping bolts anytime the unit is moved. Beyond that, it is yours to consider and decide.

Since the detergent is supposed to dispense at the appropriate time during the cycle, and the cycle is scheduled for the water to run through the dispenser twice, in order to rinse the dispenser, it is not uncommon for some water to remain in the dispenser when the cycle is complete. If this is not the case with your machine, then the unit may require service. Question

We have spots on our clothes

We frequently have oil-like spots on our clothes and have to rewash them. We use only HE liquid detergents and fabric softeners. I suspect the softening dispenser is the culprit and even add water to the fabric softener base to thin the product, but the issue continues.

Question

Won't Drain and Nothing in Hoses

I have taken all the hoses off and flushed with water as well as checking house drain. All are clear. After the Wash cycle, it won't drain and go to Rinse and gives me the OE error. If I use the drain hose at the bottom to empty the tub and pump (like you to to clean the filter) then select Rinse/Spin and restart it will finish. It only does this after the wash cycle, never after rinse.

Question

Strong smell

Is there a solution to keep mold from growing around the door seal? We have to clean this continuously. We run the tub clean mode on a regular basis. We are leaving the door open when it's not on use. Keep the area that it's in well ventilated. But we just can't seem to solve the problem. Plus there are area's that I can't get to. I see the mold I'm just not capable of holding the seal back and cleaning at the same time.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The IE error code indicates a problem with the INLET VALVES. Intermitent leak from soap dispenser

Occasionally there is a leak or trickle of water that runs down the exterior corner of the machine. It doesn't happen all the time. I have removed the soap / fabric softener dispenser and throughly cleaned but the leak still occurs occasionally.
It seems to be coming out the seam of the soap dispenser and the machine.
