dishwashers only have 1 water inlet, and should therefore be hooked up to hot water++this prevents the dishwasher from wasting more time and energy to heat up the incomming water to proper washing temperature

Dishwashers are intended to be connected to the cold water supply. This keeps the duration of the program correct. If it were a hot supply, there would be little or no heat up time which would shorten the program not allowing the detergent time to do its job. Also food proteins tend to stick on if subjected to hot water, cold water loosens them and the hot knocks them off.

Maybe your soap cup is clogged at the hinge or you are putting something in the upper rack that makes it hard to open. It is a tight squeeze. I usually leave that part of the upper rack empty.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. It is recommended to wash the seal around the edge of the dispenser to see if this will resolve the matter. If it does not, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Use only detergent intended for automatic dishwashers. Incorrect detergent may cause the dishwasher to fill with suds during operation. Excess sudsing may reduce wash performance and may cause the unit to leak. Do NOT use hand dishwashing detergent in this dishwasher.

It is normal for the motor to emit a pulsing sound prior to starting. It is normal that motor is rotating and making a noise (like high pitch noise) in the washing cycle. Generally, this is the sound of food passing through the food grinder. Usually this material will be drained out automatically during the next several cycles. If the noise continues please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional trouble shooting steps and possible service.

1. The dishwasher does not have drain only function. However, the unit will drain on its own for the first 45 seconds of a new cycle. To drain standing water, select a wash cycle and let it run for 45 seconds. Then turn the unit off and let it reset. Repeat as necessary.

2. This is caused by sides of the tub and the door being in contact with cooler air on the outside of the unit. The unit's condensing drying process relies on heat to help evaporate the water in the tub; these parts have water on them as a result of cooler temperatures.

3. Food residue or particles can prevent proper draining of the unit. Remove the bottom rack and check the bottom of the unit for food or debris. Remove any items or food that may be preventing proper drainage.

4. Check the drain hose. Ensure that there are no bends or kinks. If there are, the unit will not drain efficiently. Not only will water not be able to drain, food particles can get caught and buildups, further preventing the drain function. Straighten kinks or bends in the drain hose. The drain hose should not exceed 10 feet. If an extension was added to the drain hose to accommodate the installation location of dishwasher, it will not drain properly.

Question

My dishwasher simply doesn't clean the dishes.

The water is luke warm at first, but seems to get hotter later in the wash. There is jet blue in the rinser. I am using Cascade. Nothing seems to be blocking the water. I have to rewash the dishes when I take them out. They get wet, but not clean. Coffee stains remain in the coffee cups.

Multiple issues can cause dishes to not come clean. Effective July 1, 2010, 16 states in the U.S. banned the sale of dishwasher detergents containing phosphates. As a result, many dishwasher detergent manufacturers are removing phosphates from their formulas and not selling it in the United States. What are Phosphates? Phosphates are a naturally occurring mineral. They are used in dishwasher detergents to help soften water, remove grease, and suspend soils in the water to prevent them from being re-deposited back on to the dishes. While they are helpful in cleansers, they are a pollutant to local lakes, rivers, and streams. It is for this reason that many states in the U.S. are banning the sale of dishwasher detergents containing phosphates. Poor wash performance, including white film or white spots on dishes and walls of tub and not removing grease and stains (such as protein stains, coffee, tea, tomato sauce) or other soils will occur due to the lack of phosphates.

In addition, different cycles will perform differently, according to their wash temperatures and cycle times. Different foods dissolve and melt at different temperatures. The Normal course has a lower wash temperature than the Power Scrub and Soak Cycles, so it will not remove dried on food as well. Cycles should be selected according to the load type and soil level. We recommend Power Scrub or Soak Cycles to get better washing performance on heavier soiled loads. And be sure to use a rinse aid to ensure proper rinsing and drying.

If you continue to experience this issue, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Under the dishwasher door is a vent, as is standard on many dishwashers from many different manufacturers. Humid air can be released from this vent. If there is too much moisture being released, then the unit may require service. We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this product. It is recommended to check all the water jet holes, to make sure that none are blocked, as this could cause poor performance and a buildup of food particles that can generate an odor. Also, it is recommended to clean around the dryer vent on the side of the compartment. If this does not help the situation, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....
