The HDMI ports, on this television, are at least version 1.3. Should you choose to obtain the version 1.4 cables, they will be fully backward compatible with all previous HDMI software versions.

The audio should work with either the HDMI/DVI port or the RGB IN port. In order to assist in this matter, we would need to ask a few additional questions. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 that we might provide proper troubleshooting on this matter.

Question

Plasmas - Std Def on 50PV450 vs 50PV400 vs 50PT350

Hi - we're currently in the market for a 50" plasma. We'd like to provide flexibility for the future (which is why we're considering some 1080p units), but at current it's likely the majority of the content viewed will be standard definition over cable. From looking at the specs of the PV450 (and I'm assuming the PV400, although I can't find the specs on your web site, but based on several other answers on the forum it appears to be the same unit as the PV450 except for the USB connectivity) and the specs of the PT350, it would appear that standard definition would be the same on all of the units mentioned. Am I missing anything? Is there anything in the specs or functionality that would indicate that the performance of these above units would be different in how they display a standard definition signal? Any insight or thoughts would be very much appreciated.

This model does appear to be a very recent model. To know for certain, we would need to know the serial number. The first digit of the serial number corresponds with the year in which the unit was manufactured. For instance, if the number begins with a 7, it was probably manufactured in 2007. This unit will likely begin with either a 0 or a 1, which will be 2010 or 2011, respectively. The second and third digits of the serial correspond with the month in which the unit was manufactured; ranging from 01 to 12 for January through December.

No, there is no specified “break-in period” required for the use of your television. Were there to be such a suggestion from the manufacturer, this information would have been printed in the owner’s manual for “Before Normal Use”.

Yes, it is possible for a plasma television to have screen burn, even when the unit is set to 16:9 aspect ratio. If any image remains on the screen, or in any individual location on the screen, for any length of time, it is possible that the image will burn into the screen. If this appears to be happening, it is recommended to activate the Image Sticking Minimization (ISM) features: specifically, it is recommended to activate the WHITE WASH feature, and allow this to run for the space of about an hour. After that time, turn off the feature and inspect the unit to ensure that the stuck/burned image has been removed.

Unlike other sensors which can only sense brightness of ambient light, LG’s “Intelligent Sensor” uses 4,096 sensing steps to evaluate its surroundings. Using a sophisticated algorithm, the LG processes picture quality elements including brightness, contrast, color, sharpness and white balance. The result is a picture optimized for it’s surroundings, more pleasing to watch and which can also save up to 50% in power consumption.

This television is not compatible with a Wi-Fi network. The computer can be connected to the TV, to use it as a monitor, and the computer can display the Netflix content on the TV, when using the TV as a monitor. How the computer obtains the Netflix data from the network is a matter with which would be between the computer and the network providers.

Question

Burn In after playing a video game

We have a PS3 videogame system and after playing a game, the static text still shows on screen. (burns in). To limit this, I read online to turn the contrast down to 50% and limit the amount of playing time in one sitting. Is this the correct thing to do? I am not 100% sure if this is the television model or not, but we bought a 50" plasma at the end of 2009. I couldn't locate the auto adjusting to fix the problem. Do you know where I could find that?

Thanks!

In order to prevent image burn, avoid displaying a fixed image on your TV screen for a prolonged period. When playing a video game (ex. Play Station or Xbox), it is recommended to use the Game Mode. When in Game Mode, functions related to picture quality will be optimized for playing games. This can be found on the PICTURE MODE when you press the Q.MENU button on the remote control.
