You can purchase a Y cable (3.5mm headphone jack and two RCA connectors) to connect to the headphone port on the TV and to your stereo.

This television does not have any other method of outputting audio to a stereo system, or any other device, save through the Optical Audio Output cable or the headphone connection. If your stereo does not have an optical connection, for audio reception, then it will not be possible to connect the two devices to each other.

Hi- although different cable companies might have different codes, mine lists the following codes for programming an LG product and it worked fine. The codes listed are 004-106-112-127-247-250-569.
Hope one of them works for you. Good Luck!

Go to the web site of whom ever your cable provider is and do a search for remote control codes. This worked for me, I am with direct TV. It should give you the codes and instructions on how to apply it.

Yes it is Progressive Scan. It is no longer standard to list the P with 1080 resolutions. Unfortunately this means that cheap Chinese sets are flooding the market and are obsolete to users searching for (or not aware that they need) progressive scan capability.

Can't get the Android App to pair with my TV

I downloaded the LG TV Remote app from the Android Marketplace and both the TV and the phone are connected to my wireless router and working fine. When I launch the app on the phone and it searches for the TV a window comes up on the TV giving the pairing code but the code is just 6 dots and then the phone says it can't find the TV. How do I resolve this problem?

We have not been able to duplicate this problem, in our testing of the pairing, between this phone and this television. It is recommended to reinstall the remote app on the phone and attempt to pair again. Rescanning the network also may help in this matter.

Thank you for your question. It is recommended that you have at least a minimum of 2 Mbps bandwidth available. A home network with at least 3.0 Mbps or higher available bandwidth will provide the best video and audio quality during playback for standard definition content. For HD (high definition) content playback, 5.0 Mbps or higher is required. A home network with the minimum required bandwidth will receive lower quality streaming. Some low cost broadband network services may be insufficient to stream content. You may experience undesired results if the network connection speed does not meet the requirements of the content being accessed. Some internet connection operations may not be possible due to certain restrictions set by the Internet service provider (ISP) supplying your broadband Internet connection. LG is not responsible for any malfunction of the TV and/or the internet connection feature due to communication errors/malfunctions associated with your broadband internet connection, or other connected equipment. LG is not responsible for problems within your internet connection. Some content available through the network connection may not be compatible with the TV. If you have questions about such content, please contact the producer of the content. Your service provider can tell you how much bandwidth is available for your service package. There are also web-sites available online that you can visit that will test and measure the bandwidth that is available on your existing home network. If you perform a test and are receiving less bandwidth than expected, contact your internet service provider to troubleshoot the issue.

It seems as if the wireless network connection is being lost at various points during use. It is suggested to check the wireless network signal to ensure that there is no interference by other devices such as cellphones, microwaves, or cordless phones. Also, it is recommended to check the router wireless frequency, to ensure that it matches the frequency range listed in the wireless adaptor specifications. If these suggestions do not improve or resolve the matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional troubleshooting.

Question

why poor sound quality with dynsmic soundbar?

I have an LG soundbar (ls216) to match my 47LW5500 and it seems very very simple to connect, despite a lot of technical language in the manual. Yet I a get sound volumne that barely supplements the TV's own volumne despite the large bass speaker (which only add to the sound quality when i have the control raised up to 30 out of max of 40). what is the proper setting and what can i check to get the sound I should be getting?

Once this sound bar has been connected to the television’s optical audio out port, the internal TV speakers are supposed to be deactivated in the AUDIO MENU. Once this is done, the full range of the audio signal is directed to the Optical Audio port, and out to the sound bar.

Question

Max Capacity for USB external hard drives

I have read the user manual and I understand that it is recommended that a USB external hard drive plugged into the USB ports be less than 1 TB; however, I have been using a 1.5 TB hard drive with no problems. Have you guys tested higher capacity drives? Can this TV support 2.0, 2.5, or 3.0 TB hard drives?

Question

closed caption is grayed out, version 2

5 months ago I asked about the closed caption option being grayed out. The answer was that the cable box was connected with something other than coax. I connected the cable box with a coax cable and the closed caption option is still grayed out. LG says that the captioning comes from the cable box, the cable company says that it comes from the TV. One of you is wrong. I had to unhook my cable box and push the menu button on the box to get the captioning to display. Now I can't turn it on and off without jumping thru a bunch of hoops and unhooking a bunch of connections. I did not spend this much money on a TV to do without the CC. I have only seen two posts on this and if everyone who bought one of these had this problem, then I think you'd be getting a lot of returns. Dig deeper for a solution, please.

The closed captions are a feature of the tuner that is processing the video signal. You currently have two tuners from which to choose: the TV tuner or the CABLE BOX tuner. The TV tuner is ONLY connected to the coaxial cable jack. As such, the only way for captions information to be controlled by the TV is if the captions signal is received through the coaxial cable, and thereby, through the TV tuner. Once the signal is connected to the coaxial cable, you must be certain that the TV is reading the ANTENNA input, and not a different connection. This is the design of the television, and as such, this is the only solution. Either the cable signal is received AND VIEWED through the TV’s coaxial cable jack, or the Cable Box has to have ITS caption feature activated, so that its tuner can process the caption signal.

Question

Problem with optical audio output that has not been resolved after three replacements of main circuit board

My 47LV5500 has normal video and normal audio from the internal speakers for all inputs. But I want to use the optical audio output, which works just fine when the input is from my DVR or my Bluray player. However, if I try to use the internal tuner for off-the-air broadcasts, I get noise. I'm uploading an Audacity screen shot of what the noise looks like.
