You can purchase a Y cable (3.5mm headphone jack and two RCA connectors) to connect to the headphone port on the TV and to your stereo.

This television does not have any other method of outputting audio to a stereo system, or any other device, save through the Optical Audio Output cable or the headphone connection. If your stereo does not have an optical connection, for audio reception, then it will not be possible to connect the two devices to each other.

47LV5500 is listed as 1080P but when I look at the specifications it is listed as 1920x1080 (no P). Is it progressive scan or not?

Yes it is Progressive Scan. It is no longer standard to list the P with 1080 resolutions. Unfortunately this means that cheap Chinese sets are flooding the market and are obsolete to users searching for (or not aware that they need) progressive scan capability.

Hi- although different cable companies might have different codes, mine lists the following codes for programming an LG product and it worked fine. The codes listed are 004-106-112-127-247-250-569.
Hope one of them works for you. Good Luck!

Go to the web site of whom ever your cable provider is and do a search for remote control codes. This worked for me, I am with direct TV. It should give you the codes and instructions on how to apply it.

My TV Power cycles randomly

I've owned the TV 3 weeks now and it's done this 3 times already. I'll be in the middle of a program and the TV will freeze and then power cycle.

I heard LG had problems with power cycling TVs in 2007, will there be a fix coming?

The first thing would be, of course, to connect your LAN cable to the proper port on the back of the television. After powering on the TV, press the HOME button to access the Home menu. Press the Navigation buttons to scroll to SETUP and press ENTER. Press the Navigation buttons to scroll to NETWORK and press ENTER. Press the Navigation buttons to select NETWORK SETTING and press ENTER. Select the type of connection being used and press ENTER. Select ‘IP AUTO SETTING’ or ‘IP MANUAL SETTING’. When you are finished, press EXIT. These instructions, and more, can be found on pages 50-61 in your owner’s manual.

While it does add convenience in the setup of the product, the primary use of the calibration is for the optimal viewing quality in your area. Some dealers can perform a calibration, or you may simply use the PICTURE menu to adjust the color, brightness, and contrast levels.

There are no LG drivers available for this, nor for any of our televisions. They are designed to operate with generic drivers found in your operating system. Check each of the INPUT settings, on the TV, in order to determine if it is, in fact, just on the computer setting. It may be related to a bad cable, or determined to be something from the computer. If it turns out to be the television, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 so that we might assist in locating service for this unit.

Frequently, when the Closed Captions feature is grayed out, in the TV menu, it is caused by the connection to a cable box, or other such external receiver, through a connection other than the coaxial antenna jack. The captions feature will have to be activated or deactivated through the cable box menus.
