Question

Water level

I recently acquired a used LG front loading washer model # WM2455HG. I ran it thru a normal cycle to clean it and it had only a little of water in the drum (about a gallon or so) and today I did a load of towels and they barely got wet. Is this normal? I thought I should see some water sloshing around with the towels. I checked to see that the hot and cold water taps are fully open. Is there a filter or something that could be interfering with the inlet? Also, I notice at the start of the cycle, the water comes on for approximately 5 -10 seconds and shuts off repeatedly. Could that be responsible for the low water level? Thank you for your help.

Lint and other objects may accumulate and clog the drain pump filter. Generally speaking, it is best to clean the drain filter at least once a month. If the unit is used frequently, it may be necessary to clean it more often. The drain pump filter is located on the front lower left hand corner of the unit behind the access panel. The directions are as followed:

1. Open the drain pump filter access panel.
2. Remove the plug from the drain hose, and allow the water to drain completely.
3. Unclip the drain hose and pull it out. Place the end of the drain hose in a pan, bucket, or floor drain to catch water.
4. Twist the pump filter counterclockwise to remove. Remove any lint and foreign objects from the pump filter. Reverse the above steps to reinstall the drain pump filter and drain hose. Be sure to close the cover panel when finished.

The washer level is based on the load size. When the START/PAUSE button is pressed, the washer automatically detects the wash load (weight) and optimizes the washing time, based on the selected cycle and options. The water will come on for a few seconds at a time to sense the load size. It is normal.

Question

There is a bad odor in my washer, how do you get rid of it?

I have used the tide washer cleaners that are HE safe and we have cleaned the pump and wiped down the inside. I also try to leave the door slightly open.

Hi and thank you for contacting us. I am sorry to hear about the issue with your unit and would be happy to try to assist. For this type of issue, if the cleaning tablets fail, we recommend having a service technician do a power wash; with that, they would take apart the entire unit and wash it out.

If that fails as well, we recommend having the gasket and drain hose replaced. They also may try changing the outer drum as that also can hold mold/mildew depending on how serious the issue gets.

For service information or assistance, please contact our Customer Service at 800-243-0000.

The inlet hose filter can be purchased at your local hardware store. Home Depot carries them, They are in the plumbing area next to the Danco fittings.  They are called “Hose Washer with Screen.”  The SKU number is 218245.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this unit. It is recommended to keep the door slightly open between cycles, to allow the air-tight drum to air out, and thereby prevent mildew development. As for the water filling while not in use, this sounds like a problem with the water valve. This unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Question

WM2455H power button won't respond

A load finished correctly, but when I tried to start the next load, nothing happened when I press the power button. No tones, no error message, nothing. There is power to the outlet, so it isn't the circuit breaker.

It is recommended to flip the circuit breaker off and then back on again. Test the washing machine again. If it still does not operate, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....
