Question

when ice is dispensed the door (flap) stays open for a long time

What is a normal time for it to stay open?
Is there a manual available to clean/repair behind the water activation bar where the ice door flap stays open, if needed?

I apologize, but no; there is no manual for cleaning around or behind the water activation bar. It is normal for the ice flap to stay open for a few seconds after dispensing to allow for residual pieces to clear from the mechanism. It is recommended to leave your glass under the dispenser for a couple of seconds after dispensing is complete.

I apologize for the frustration you are experiencing. There are many factors that can cause an issue such as this.

Is the temperature setting too warm on Freezer? -4°F (-20°C) is the minimum recommended temperature setting of the freezer compartment for normal ice production. If the freezer temperature is set at a warmer temperature, then the ice will produce at a slower rate.

Are the doors opened often? If the doors of the unit are opened often, the cold air will escape which will prevent the unit from maintaining the set temperature. Lowering the temperature can help, as well as not opening the doors as frequently.

Are the water lines kinked or leaking? Check the water lines at the back of the unit for any kinks or leaks that could be inhibiting water flow to the icemaker. If the water lines at the back of the unit are kinked, straighten them out. If there are any leaks, proceed to the leaking section of this guide.

The Express Freeze/Ice Plus can be used to increase ice production. This option will operate the compressor continuously for three hours. With this option the cold air in the compartment is increased as is ice production. Before activating this option, set the freezer temperature to 0°F (-18°C) or colder.

If you continue to experience this problem, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional trouble shooting steps or service.

Question

Our LCD screen on our fridge does not appear to be working. Any ideas?

We recently moved our LG LFX25980ST fridge out of storage (it was there for a couple of months). Once we plugged it in and moved it into position, the LCD screen doesn't seem to be working. The fridge and freezer seem to be cold though.

Question

ice flap stays open

You have not been much help. Surely there's a schematic available or a maintenance manual for "the end user," right?
