WM2016CW extended wash cycle

I have been noticing that my washer is taking over 2 hours for a 53 min normal cycle? The washer is 2 years 2 months old?

The washer cycle time is based on the load size.

When the START/PAUSE button is pressed, the washer automatically detects the wash load (weight) and optimizes the washing time, based on the selected cycle and options. The display will then indicate the estimated time remaining for the selected wash cycle.

NOTE: The cycle time displayed may appear much longer than that of a top-loading washer. The displayed time is for the complete cycle, rather than just the agitation portion of the cycle, as is typically shown on a top-loading washer.

Question

How do we install the converter kit on the new pedestals?

We have the WM2016cw model washer and the dryer from the same time. We have since bought the pedestals and had to get a "converter" kit - but don't know how to install to set up the pedestals. Can you help?

LG has released a pedestal adaptation kit. This will allow older units, which previously used a mounting bracket installation method, to be secured to a new pedestal that uses the t-clip installation method. Two brackets will be placed on the left side of the unit and two on the right side of the unit. The adaptation kit contains mounting brackets and self-tapping screws.

1. Remove the paper on the adhesive and place on the unit. The adhesive part will adhere to the washer/dryer.
2. The brackets can screw into the pedestal. They come with “Self-Tapping” Screws. This means that the screws can go into and through the metal on the sides of the pedestal. They will create their own thread to secure to the pedestal.

You can also refer to the Owner’s Manual for the pedestals for more information.

Question

Clothes come out smelling musty

Our clothes smell musty after washing.

I've cleaned the washer using the tub clean. I've cleaned the filters and I've gone through the manual to see what else I could do. Can't figure out why my clothes would smell or how to fix it.

Is there anything else we can do? I have a WM2016CW.

I apologize for the frustration you are experiencing. There are many factors that can cause an issue such as this. Different minerals in the water or a home water softener system can change the quality of the cleaning. The amount of detergent used is a main cause of poor cleaning performance. Due to the amount of water used per cycle in the High-Efficiency unit, the amount of detergent has to be reduced. Our recommended amount is generally 2 TBSP. The unit does not use enough water to rinse out the clothing properly if too much detergent is used in a cycle. This can cause and odor as well as leave the clothing looking dingy. It is imperative to maintain the unit by following the cleaning instructions in the owner’s manual. In addition front load tub cleaners are available at your local store.

An IE error code will appear if the washer has not filled with water in approximately 8 minutes. If an IE error code appears on the washer, check to make sure both hot and cold-water taps are open completely. After both valves have been opened, unplug the washer for 10 seconds and retry the wash cycle.

You can use a Tub Clean cycle as well as clean the drain filter to assist with this issue. The directions are as followed:

TUB CLEAN
1. Remove any clothing or items from the washer and close the door.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. NOTE: Do not add any detergent to the detergent compartments. Excessive suds may be produced and leak from the washer.
3. Close the dispenser drawer slowly.
4. Power on the machine, press the “option” and then select the “Tub Clean”.
5. Press the Start/Pause button to start.
6. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open to dry around the washer door opening, door seal and door glass.

DRAIN FILTER
1. Open the drain pump filter access panel.
2. Remove the plug from the drain hose, and allow the water to drain completely.
3. Unclip the drain hose and pull it out. Place the end of the drain hose in a pan, bucket, or floor drain to catch water.
4. Twist the pump filter counterclockwise to remove. Remove any lint and foreign objects from the pump filter. Reverse the above steps to reinstall the drain pump filter and drain hose. Be sure to close the cover panel when finished.

Pictures are available in the owner’s manual that can be accessed on our website at www.lg.com.

Generally speaking, the following temperatures are standard for all washing machine water temperatures:

Tap Cold (water line)
Cold (77°F)
Warm (104°F)
Hot (122°F)
Extra Hot (158°F)

There is a variance to these temperatures, depending on the surrounding environment. The temperature cannot be adjusted as it is preset. Please choose the cycle temperature according to your needs.

Allow the water to cool down before cleaning the drain pump filter. Open the lower cover cap with a tool such as a coin. Turn the drain plug to pull out the hose. Unplug the drain plug, and allow the water to flow out. At this time, use a pan of some sort to prevent water from flowing onto the floor. When water does not flow anymore, turn the pump filter to the left to open it. Remove any foreign objects from the pump filter. After cleaning the filter, return it to its position and turn it clockwise to seal it. Finally close the lower cover cap. If this does not resolve the issue, then the unit may require service. Water can appear from under the washing machine due to a few different reasons. If the rubber gaskets in the inlet hoses are damaged, then water can leak from the faucet. If there is a hole in the hose, then this could also cause a leak. It could also be from the internal hoses, which would require the assistance of a service technician. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....
