Many factors can cause the unit to leak from the door.

Are the gasket (seal) and door cleaned regularly? The gasket and door require regular cleaning to prevent buildup which prevents proper sealing. It is generally recommended that both should be wiped after washing. If this is not done, buildup prevents proper sealing between door and gasket, which will cause leaking. Do not trap any items of clothing between the door glass and rubber seal to prevent rubber seal from damage during operation. The damaged rubber seal cannot secure tight sealing.

Do not overload. Make sure to load the full-size comforter correctly to prevent damage. Turn the comforter in the drum so that a smooth forms facing the door when comforter is completely loaded. Make sure that the comforter does not touch the rubber seal and that all corners are tucked in.

If you continue to experience this issue, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Question

spin only cycle

I have a LG WM0642HW front loading washer. I want to be able to just use the spin without any aggitation to extract water from a fleece or wool hand knits. I only need a minute or less of spin time, but any aggitation will felt the wool and ruin it. How do I do this?

Thank you for your question. Here are the steps to drain and spin only: Power the unit off and back on. Press the spin speed button to medium. Push start. Your display will show 14 minutes. The unit will drain and then go into a spin cycle.

Question

How can I use this washer on a GFCI circuit?

Whenever the motor reverses during any cycle, the GFCI breaker trips.

Generally speaking, most appliances recommend they be placed upon a dedicated circuit; that is, a single outlet circuit which powers only that appliance and has no additional outlets or branch circuits. GFIs detect very low currents comparing the current in the hot wire to the neutral wire. If they are different, it trips. And "different" can be a very small amount. This washer can produce varied currents when changing cycles and spin speed.

Question

Has there been a recall on this product?

My WM0642HW frequently creates a terrific racket as the normal load gets out of balance and the drum wobbles. The machine is balanced precisely using the adjusting feet.

It is not necessary to wipe the gasket dry after every wash load. However, when laundry is finished for the day, wipe down the door and gasket. Water left in the gasket at the end of the cycle is normal, but if not wiped out, this water stagnates and begins to smell. If the gasket is not being wiped out, mildew buildup can occur. If a mildew buildup is present, the gasket will need to be cleaned. Use a mixture of ¾ cup of bleach with 3.78 liters of hot water. Always use the bleach and water mixture. Straight bleach can cause damage to the gasket.

When the WM0642WH was released it was advertised with the WDP2W pedestal. Unfortunately that pedestal is not being manufactured any longer. The pedestal that is available now is the WDP3W which will work on your unit. This pedestal is taller than the other. The dimensions are 27” x 13 3/5” x 28 2/5”. Please visit our website and click on the “Where to Buy” tab that will allow you to enter your zip code and find dealers in your area.
